Middle School Quality Points Information
At Franklin Academy Boynton Beach we are committed to supporting students throughout their academic journey. Based on first semester grades, some scholars are on track and have earned the expected quality points and some scholars are in jeopardy of not meeting the requirements necessary to earn quality points for one or more core classes in middle school. Please, see below a brief description about quality points. All middle school core courses and PE courses must be passed to proceed to high school. QUALITY POINTS For every course that middle school students take in core content areas, they are awarded quality points for their grades. If a student earns an “A” in a quarter, they receive 4 quality points. If a student earns a “B” in a quarter, they receive 3 quality points. If a student earns a “C” in a quarter, they receive 2 quality points. If a student earns a “D” in a quarter, they receive 1 quality point. If a student fails a quarter, they will not receive any quality points at all for the quarter. Students must earn 4 quality points to pass a class. In addition to quality points, students must pass the exam for courses requiring the EOC exam. Students cannot be promoted to high school if they do not receive the required amount of quality points necessary for passing all of their middle school core content classes and PE.
In efforts to support our students who have not met the expected quality points we will be inviting them to participate in a course recovery class. Invitations will be sent out within the next week. As always, we appreciate your support as we work together to support your child's academic journey.
Transportation Updates:
We have spots available on our school busses. If you are interested, please complete a Mid-Year Transportation (Bus) Request form in PowerSchool to request busing. Link to how to view PowerSchool Forms.
Carline Reminder
We kindly request that all cars pull up all the way in the carline each morning. When everyone does this, it allows more cars to drop off their child(ren) at once, making the process smoother and reducing wait times for everyone. If there are gaps in the carline, it slows down the flow, leading to longer waits. Your cooperation and support with this are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

January IB Learner Profile of the Month- Principled
IB Learner Profile for Parents
The Learner Profile strives to build global citizens and lifelong learners, challenging us all to be the best that we can be at home and school. As parents, using this language and terminology in the home can be a powerful way of reinforcing these ten personal attributes.
January IB Learner Profile Attribute: Principled
Students who are PRINCIPLED have a sense of fairness and are honest with themselves and with others. They understand that sometimes there are rules and they follow them. They have an understanding of moral reasoning.
How can parents help to develop students who are Principled at home?
- Involve your child in deciding on the rules for a game or activity and then ensure that they stick to the ones that have been decided upon.
- Encourage your child to play games that involve teams. Discuss with your child the qualities of a team player. What sort of person would they want on their team?
- When your child wins a game insist that he or she is a well-mannered winner. They might thank their opponent or shake hands with them if it’s appropriate.
- When playing a game, don’t change the rules or let your child win. Being a gracious loser is just as important as being a good winner.

Important Reminder: Uniform Policy Adherence
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's uniform policy.
Our uniform policy plays a crucial role in maintaining a focused and disciplined learning environment, and it helps instill a sense of unity and pride among our students. To ensure that these objectives are met, we kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that your child is in proper uniform when attending school.
We are now enforcing the uniform policy, and students found out of uniform will receive infractions. We believe this step is necessary to uphold the standards we have set for our school community.
We understand that there may be instances where items are on back order. In such cases, we kindly request that you send an email to Mrs. L'Etoile at letoile.alison@franklin-academy.org with either the iUniforms receipt for the items you've ordered or an email confirmation indicating that the items are on back order. This will help us keep track of any delays and ensure that students are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control.
Please remember that all uniform items must be purchased through iUniforms to maintain consistency in quality and design. http://www.iuniforms.com/
We greatly appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.

Important Arrival/Dismissal Time Reminders for Elementary and Middle School
AM Carline Reminder:
For our elementary school students, we have noticed that there is little to no line to drop off students at 7:20 am, which provides an excellent opportunity for a smooth and stress-free drop-off experience. To give your child ample time to settle in and be ready for the start of their classes at 7:30 am, we kindly request that you aim to arrive prior to 7:30 am. Any student arriving late to school (7:30 AM for Elementary students and 8:30 AM for Middle School Students) will be marked as tardy. Parents will be required to park their vehicle and report to the front office to sign in your child. You will be required to bring in your ID to scan it through Raptor to record the tardy.
PM Carline Reminder:
For the safety of everyone involved and to prevent traffic congestion that can lead to accidents, we kindly request that you do not park your vehicles on Military Trail or Miner Road during dismissal times.
We understand that waiting can sometimes be inconvenient, but we encourage you to plan your arrival between 2:15 and 2:30 PM. This will not only reduce your wait time but also contribute to a safer and more organized dismissal process.
Please be aware that the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) has informed us that they will be issuing fines to individuals who park on Military Trail and Miner Road. We want to avoid any unnecessary fines and, more importantly, prioritize the safety of our school community.
Your cooperation in following these parking guidelines is greatly appreciated, as it ensures the well-being of all our students and families. Together, we can create a safer and more efficient dismissal experience.
Late Pick-up Reminder:
Parents of students in grades K-5 not picked up by 2:45 p.m. will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute, per student. Parents of students in grades 6-8 not picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute, per student. The late fee policy applies to all before-school/after-school/after-hours events and activities including, but not limited to, late pick up from after-school clubs, special events, school-sponsored off-site events, etc. Students with outstanding financial obligations are not eligible to participate in extra-curricular activities including, but not limited to, field trips, dances, athletic events, ceremonies, after school clubs, etc. Parents will need to park and come in to pick up their child(ren).
