WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR SCIENCE FAIR!
Coleman Middle School needs volunteers to help judge our school's first Science Fair on Monday, January 23rd. Judges should expect to dedicate about 40 minutes of their time from 2:30- 3:50. Mrs.Rossi, our 8th grade Science teacher, will be helping those unfamiliar with the Science Fair scoring sheet and have information packets available to guide through the judging process. We would truly appreciate the donation of your valuable time. By volunteering, you are helping to cultivate a new generation of scientists and engineers in our students .
Please click HERE to complete a form if you are willing to volunteer Jan 23rd at Coleman Middle School.

MESSAGE FROM THE COUNTY NURSE:
GCPS Families,
GCPS has partnered with GNR Public Health to offer required vaccinations for students attending 7th and 11th grade. Through this partnership, students can receive Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccine) and MCV4 (adolescent meningococcal vaccine). In addition to these required vaccinations, GNR will have limited supplies of flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccines.
All students born on or after January 1, 2002, and are entering, advancing or transferring into 7th grade in Georgia need proof of an adolescent pertussis (whooping cough) booster vaccination (called “Tdap”) and an adolescent meningococcal vaccination (MCV4).
Effective July 1, 2021, children 16 years of age and older, who are entering the 11th grade (including new entrants), must have received one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday. This MCV4 booster is required in addition to the booster required for 7th grade. It is important to note that the vaccine is only required for students who are at least 16 years of age AND attending 11th grade.
Families will need to provide proof of insurance for Tdap, MCV4 and flu vaccines. Students 18 years of age and younger who do not have health insurance will be eligible for vaccines at no charge through our mobile clinics under the Vaccines for Children program. COVID-19 vaccinations are available regardless of insurance status.
We will be offering these vaccines at Duluth High School on
January 25, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Calling All Interested Coleman Parents for PTA Volunteer Opportunities:
The Coleman PTA needs a Nominating Committee to elect next school year's 2023-2024 Coleman PTA Executive Board. The nominating committee is comprised of 3 members and 2 alternates. They elect their own Chairman and meet and talk about who they would like for the open positions on the board. For next school year, we have TWO open positions for co-Vice President. Each board member's term runs from 6/1-5/31 of each school year. We would like to elect the Nominating Committee by the next PTA General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, February 8th. The nominating committee meets and contacts potential candidates for their slate by the end of March. The slate of candidates for next year's board is posted by mid-April. If any parent is interested in serving on the Nominating Committee or serving as next year's PTA co-Vice President, please email us at colemanwildcatspta@gmail.com.
Next Coleman PTA General Membership Meeting:
Mark you calendars for the next Coleman PTA General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, February 8th at 6:30PM on ZOOM. We will elect the Nominating Committee and vote on PTA Budget revisions. Please make plans to attend! The Zoom Link will be posted in the Coleman Connection by Friday, January 27th.
