Veteran’s Day Assembly
Monday, November 11th, we will honor our veterans with an assembly beginning at 9:00 in the gymnasium. Students should have come home with a sheet where they could invite a veteran to the assembly and be honored for their service and sacrifice.
On the day of the assembly, all visitors will be asked to sign in on a form in the main office and wear a guest name badge. In addition, all visitors will be asked to access the gymnasium and foyer area of the school, and not visit classrooms.
In addition, all students will be encouraged to dress in red, white, and blue.
Winter Weather has Arrived
Our weather has certainly been cold the past two weeks, and many students are doing a great job dressing for the elements. I’m still finding several students not equipped with winter coats, etc. during the recess periods. Please be sure to send your child to school with proper attire.
First Trimester Report Cards
Report cards will be available to parents on Home Access Center on November 13th. Home Access Center can be accessed from our district or school homepage.
Monday Math Mania
I want to thank all of our Mustangs families who attended the Math Mania event this past Monday night at Thompson Middle School. Munhall was well represented! I had the opportunity to play math games with many of our students in attendance, and it was an absolute joy. I hope all attendees felt their time was well-spent, and they returned home with information and strategies to support math development from home.
CogAT Testing
Between November 11 and November 22, 2019, 3rd and 5th graders will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). The test consists of three short sections, 40-45 minutes each. The CogAT is not an achievement test. Instead, it measures a student’s reasoning abilities which can facilitate his/her learning and problem-solving. CogAT scores report an individual’s verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning abilities. The test scores may be used to adapt instruction and programs to the needs and abilities of students. Information is also used as a piece of information for student programming, such as Academically Talented.
You will receive a report with your child’s performance on these tests in January. We appreciate your support of our academic program and your partnership in facilitating your child’s learning. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Parent-Teacher Conference Sign-up
Parents can currently sign-up for Fall Conferences. This year Fall Conferences are held on Monday, November 25th from 8:00-8:00 and Tuesday, November 26th from 8:00-12:00. To sign up for conferences, please login into your Home Access Center (HAC) account. Parents can sign up for conferences through November 22nd.
Have a great weekend!

Student Council
Munhall Student Council would like to announce that our first Spirit Day Fundraiser of the year will be on Friday November 22, 2019! All money raised will be donated to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. Last year we raised $500 for them! Can we reach that goal again?
After the Veteran’s assembly there will be a decorated donation box in the main office through noon on Tuesday Nov 26. If you stop in the school for conferences feel free to drop off a donation of any amount! The theme for the Spirit Day will be determined at the next Student Council meeting and announced on Nov 20. We will ask students for a suggested participation donation of $1 (if able) to support our Veterans.
We would also like to say THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Haunted Cake Walk at the Fall Fest! We were able to raise a profit of $371 to be used for the needs of the PTO Giving Tree. Our very own Munhall families will benefit from this wonderful program. The Munhall PTO is the BEST!!!
FYI- We are looking into ways to lessen the wait time and make it an even better experience for all. We are listening to students, staff, and parental feedback and suggestions.
