Cayuga Onondaga Teacher Center

The Cayuga Onondaga Teacher Center is funded through the NYS Legislature. The funds received are used to provide free Professional Learning Opportunities for our consortium district teachers, teaching assistants, and administrators. This PD comes from what our teachers ask for and are provided by their colleagues. We are governed by a board of members from our districts consisting of teachers, administrators, parents, and community members. Our Local Education Agency (LEA) is Cayuga Onondaga BOCES. We also have many items available to borrow to use in your classroom with virtual hands-on training available through our badgelist. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, 10-5 and Wednesday 9-12. Other times are available by appointment only.

3, 60-minute sessions supporting school leaders including teacher leaders and those who aspire to teacher leadership. Conflict is a part of life including schools. Learn how to anticipate, analyze, and act/respond (or not act) in a way that best helps the school and its community of learners. Specifically, through high-energy, high-impact virtual sessions, attendees will gain immediate practical tips to manage conflict in their schools. Principals, aspiring principals, and teacher leaders will engage in a format that is part facilitator-led, part workshop, and part seminar-style reflection, all of which will provide insight and ideas to change how we think about conflict and how to embrace it for long-term success.

In the final part of our session, we will study some of the typical conflicts present in school and apply the anticipate—> analyze—> act cycle to successfully manage them. Attendees will consider conflict management as an ongoing “get to” rather than “have to.”

RTI was once the hottest topic in reading education, but failed to produce impressive results, according to a national study and NAEP scores. Why didn't RTI live up to its promise? How does RTI/MTSS intersect with current attention to the science of reading? What can we salvage from the original research and intent that precipitated RTI as we move forward to empower educators and increase student literacy achievement?
