Hello Maple Hill Hawk Families! We look forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces on Monday, August 8th! Just a reminder, our front gates open at 7:45 am, and school starts at 8:10 am. Bring your camera and be ready to take pictures of this important day! The Maple Hill Community Club has arranged to have a "first day of school" sign out in front of the school, which is a perfect picture-taking opportunity. All parents will be allowed to enter the gate and stand in line with their children on the first day of school. Once your child's teacher comes out to greet everyone, then parents will leave out of the gate, and students will go inside the classrooms. Parents will not be allowed to enter the building.

As always, this Hawk Talk is filled with everything you need to know for the month. Please take a moment to read through it carefully, so you and your student start off the school year on the right foot.

August 8th- First Day of School - Minimum day school-wide (see bell schedule below for times)

August 9th- "Boo Hoo, Woo Hoo!" Coffee with the Principal (see below)

August 9th-11th- Kindergarten and TK Minimum Day dismissal @ 11:30 am

August 10th- Back to School Night (see below)

August 12th- Minimum day school-wide (see bell schedule below for times)

August 24th- Math Olympiad Testing 2:40 pm - 3:40 pm in the MPR (see below)

As we start the school year, it is essential for everyone to review our safety reminders. Keeping our students safe is our number one priority. Please show the slides below to anyone who might be picking up or dropping off your child at school.

Also, ensure your child knows who is picking them up each day and has a designated meeting spot so they are confident about where to meet them. Tk-1st grade students will stay with their teacher until an adult has walked to the gate to meet them.

Please DO NOT encourage your child to wait at the park across the street. There is no adult supervision there. Instead, pick a spot in front of the school to meet your child. Any child who has not been picked up and is still on campus after 15 minutes will be brought into the office to call home.

Teachers will present important information about their classroom and the expectations in their classroom this school year. These presentations are on a rotating schedule to allow you to visit each teacher if you have more than one child. Because this is an evening for teachers to share the year’s program, we ask that children do not attend due to limited classroom space and no supervision on the playgrounds.

Math Olympiads is a competitive after-school math class run by our excellent 4th-grade teacher, Mrs. Criddle. This class is for 4th and 5th graders only. Students must try out to be in this class.

Try-outs will be held on:

Wednesday, August 24th

Time: 2:40 pm - 3:40 pm

Location: Maple Hill MPR

If your child makes the team, they will have classes every Wednesday after school from 2:40 pm - 3:50 pm starting Wednesday, September 7th.

This year we will embrace our inner athletes on Team Maple Hill! We are planning fun sports-themed activities throughout the school year to get our students excited about coming to school. Get ready for sports-themed dress-up days, fun assemblies, and great lessons from athletes around the world!!

This year students will have the opportunity to receive a free brunch and a free lunch at school. Brunch will be served during recess. Students need to know their lunch ID numbers or scan a lunch card provided by their teacher to receive lunch.

How do I know who my child's teacher is?
