Does your campus or district have some great practices around ID&R? Please consider submitting an application to present at the next showcase. Applications are NOW OPEN for the February event. Submit your Proposal to Present today!
Family Surveys
MEP staff should be collecting and following up on all family surveys submitted by parents in the district as a part of the school registration packet. If it appears that the family may have made a qualifying move to engage in agricultural or fishing work, please reach out to the family and determine whether a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) should be completed.
AIIMS Portal Update!
Visit the AIIMS Portal to view the two NEW Non-Project District sections that are now available. The Non-Project District Staff section shares the responsibilities and requirements for LEA MEP staff in a Non-Project District. The ESC Staff Supporting Non-Project Districts section helps ESC MEP staff understand the role they play in supporting migratory students who attend school in a Non-Project District. Visit these two sections to learn about the resources MEP staff have available to them to support the migratory community in the Non-Project Districts of their region.

TASFA/FAFSA
The priority deadline for the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) as well as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are both January 15, 2023. This is the recommended date that many institutions in Texas suggest to turn in the TASFA and FAFSA paperwork in order for students to maximize their financial aid funding. Students that are classified as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA are encouraged to complete the TASFA. Keep in mind to double-check with your college, as each college may have its own deadline. For more information, visit the TASFA website and the Federal Student Aid website.
Scholarship Opportunities
Applications for scholarship opportunities will soon be available for graduating seniors. The Recognition and Scholarship Opportunities for Migratory Students page on the Texas Migrant Education Program portal provides a list of scholarships offered specifically to assist migratory students preparing for post-secondary education. Visit today to learn more.
HEP/CAMP
The deadline to complete the National HEPCAMP Association Scholarship is January 15, 2023. This deadline is for the rolling application period that began on November 15, 2022. For students to be eligible for this scholarship, they must have earned a high school equivalency diploma within three years of the application date, be enrolled in an institution of higher education or other post-secondary education or training program and provide proof of enrollment. Keep in mind that only three applicants per HEP Program will be accepted per calendar year. For more information, visit the National HEPCAMP Association’s website.
