Celebrating the Artistic Achievements of Students
We are proud to announce the remarkable accomplishments of our D103 students who recently participated in the 43rd Annual Consortium ArtFest held at Stevenson High School. This event showcased the exceptional talent and creativity of our young artists, with approximately 15 percent of D103 students having their artwork displayed at the art show.
Selected from Sprague, Half Day, and Daniel Wright, these students stood out for their hard work, excellent attention to detail, originality, and more. Each of the chosen students contributed a 2D or 3D artwork that captured their unique perspectives and artistic abilities. The mediums employed ranged from traditional techniques such as pencil, pen, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, and chalk pastel, to more unconventional forms like sculpture, collage, and digital like ProCreate and photography.
“Students get so excited when they find out their artwork has been chosen for display. For some it is the highlight of their year. The show really is an amazing experience,” said Art Teacher Kerry Sweet.
Please visit the district’s Google Doc folder to see the students and their artwork.
Athletes Head to State
Congratulations to Track State qualifiers Adam Foley, Grace Tosyali, and Ben Tosyali. All three will compete in the state meet over the weekend.
Grace Tosyali qualified for state in shot put and also broke the school record at sectionals. Congratulations to the Track Relay Team of Matthew Sponholtz, Owen Moran, Ollie Foley, and Adam Foley who set a new DW school record at Sectionals for the 4 x 400 relay.
Volleyball Champs
The seventh-grade boys DW A Volleyball Team was named tournament champions winning the A bracket of the Patriots tournament. Congratulations to the eighth-grade boys A and B Volleyball Teams for being named conference champion as well! Great job, also, to the seventh-grade B Team who took second place. Excellent job to the teams for representing Daniel Wright by balancing sportsmanship with competitiveness.
Lunch Balance
If your student has a Quest lunch balance it will be carried over to the next school year and applied to the account where the student attends school. If your D103 student is graduating out of Daniel Wright the balance will be transferred to a younger student. If there are no younger siblings to transfer the funds to, Quest will issue the account holder a refund check in August. Questions? Contact Vicky Shargo, Food Service Director, at vshargo@questfms.com.
Medication Pick Up
Parents will need to pick up student medication that has been stored in the school nurse's office. Unclaimed medication will be properly disposed of after Thursday, June 15, 2023. If your child is attending summer school, you will need to pick up your child's medication and take it to Daniel Wright or Sprague. The medication should be picked up at the end of summer school or it will will be properly disposed of by Friday, July 7. Please contact your school nurse if you have any questions.
Alumni Day: Throwback Tuesday
Throwback Tuesday Alumni Day! All former Warriors are invited back to hang with their favorite DW eighth-grade teachers on the school's front lawn on Tuesday, May 30, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Because May 30 is the last full day of instruction for students, alumni will not be able to tour the building or visit other staff members. This is a drop in event and alumni must provide their own transportation. Help us spread the word by sharing this notice with DW graduates. Hope to see you soon!
