Kindness Grams
Kindness Grams!
Student council will be sponsoring a kindness/candy gram event in the month of February. Kindness grams are a great way to spread kind words throughout the school and are free. Students can fill them out, hand them in and they will be delivered to students and staff on February 16th.
Candy grams will be $1 and will be delivered February 16th.
Grams will be available before school and during lunches January 30th-February 1st.

RMS students and staff will be taking field trips on Friday, February 16.
Grade 6 will go to Andover Community Center
Grade 7 will go to Elm Creek Park Reserve (Tubing)
Grade 8 will go to Mall of America-Nickelodeon Universe
Registration is available through SchoolPay. If you have any question please contact your students' Royal Rally teacher with all of the details.

Volunteer News
Friday, February 16, is our all-building field trip. 6th grade will go to Andover Community Center, 7th grade will go to Elm Creek for snow tubing, and 8th grade will go to Nickelodeon Universe. We need up to 10 chaperones for each field trip. All chaperones will check in at 9 am on Feb 16th at RMS.

Community Education News
The new year brings lots of new Community Ed opportunities! Here are some Middle School activities coming up.
Dance Team Starts February 26
In this competitive dance team league, dancers will learn the skills of dance with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Based on registration numbers, A and B level teams will be formed based on each dancer’s skill level. Dancers practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Activity bus available.
There are even more classes like Dungeons and Dragons, Weight Training and Conditioning, Terrain and Diorama Crafting, Mindful Movement, Cookie Wars, Muffin Wars, Babysitter Training, Ping Pong, Painting Miniature Models and 6th Grade Girls and 6th Grade Boys Basketball!
Procedural Expectations for Picking Up Your Student Early
If you will be picking up your student(s) early please follow this procedure:
- Calling and leaving a message on the attendance line; 763-506-5806
- Enter the pick-up time and reason in ParentVue
- Have your student bring a note to the attendance office in the morning
- The cut-off time to pick up your student is 2:30 p.m.
- Parking in front of the school to pick up your student ends at 2:30 p.m.
- If we are not notified prior, it will take longer to get your student out of lunch or class
Following this procedure helps the office prepare for your arrival and helps you get to your destination on time.

Next Parent Engage 360 Event Set for Thursday, February 29
Join parents and guardians from the Anoka-Hennepin Schools community for information and resources to support the needs of students today.
The big picture: Anoka-Hennepin is hosting three Parent Engage 360 community and parent education events during the 2023-24 school year. These events aim to provide resources for parents and guardians to support their students and others in the community. Topics range from mental health, chemical health, internet safety, and more. Parent Engage 360 forum events are offered both in-person and in virtual formats and are free and open to the public.
What to expect: The second Parent Engage 360 event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Champlin Park High School auditorium and will feature Beth Lovre, family peer educator with the National Alliance of Mental Illness Minnesota. The event, titled You’re the Expert: How to successfully advocate for your child, will provide parents/guardians with information and resources on how parents can be an advocate for their child in the doctor’s office, the mental health system and in public education settings.

Navigating the mental health system both in the medical and educational settings can be difficult or just a new experience for parents/guardians. In the latest Parent Engage 360 Podcast, Beth Lovre, a family peer educator with the National Alliance of Mental Illness Minnesota (NAMI), joined host Liz Burgard to provide information for parents/guardians on the value of parent engagement and advocacy to ensure the best care and treatment for your child.
