Cross Country teams ran the District 5-3A meet on Saturday, hosted by Comfort. The girls team finished third and qualified for the Regional Meet which will be held at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on October 23 at Noon. The object of cross country is to have the lowest point total for your team. First place = 1 point, Second place = 2 points, etc. 7 runners are entered for a team and the top 5 are scored for team points. Individual results for the Varsity Girls are below with the points they scored:
Sylene Acosta = 7
Carleigh Dotson = 8
Addie Olinick = 18
Karla Bacilio = 22
Andrea Alegria = 24

Kylene Kramer = 32
The boys finished 5th at the District 5-3A Meet. The top 3 teams and top 10 individuals qualify for the regional meet. Progress Reports
Band Contests
The Panther Band and Color Guard traveled to Judon HS to compete in the Rocket Review Marching Contest on Saturday. The Panther Band was the top rated 3A Band in the contest! The band will be marching in Fredericksburg on October 14 for their UIL Marching Contest. They will perform at 7:15 PM. Congratulations and Good Luck Band and Color Guard!
(Almost) Perfect Attendance
The Junior Class had the highest attendance rate in the district last week. BISD has an attendance flag that goes to the campus of the class with the highest attendance rate for the week. The Juniors had an attendance rate of 97.25% last week which is outstanding. As a result the attendance flag flew over Blanco High School this week. Attendance is important for lots of reasons including the fact that students learn best when they are at school and the state will not allow BHS to award credit to students who miss a class over 10% of the time. Thank you parents and students for helping BHS maintain a great attendance rate through the first 9 weeks of school!
Construction Update
Construction is underway on the temporary student parking lot. This process will take about a month.
Once the temporary lot is complete, the current lot will be fenced and turned into a construction zone. At that time, students will begin parking in the temporary lot.
After fencing is in place, the current student parking lot will be taken up and construction on utilities for the new Educational Center for the Arts will begin, with the building to follow.
When the ECA is nearing completion, the temporary student parking lot will be expanded for ECA parking and the entire lot will be sealed permanently.
Check back for more exact dates of these changes as the construction process progresses.
