There was a lot of excitement and smiles coming back to school this week.

Today we celebrated the arrival of the three kings with the feast of the Epiphany. Fr. Mull reminded us the gifts Jesus was brought: gold since he was a king, frankincense - a symbol of Jesus' priesthood which He passed onto His disciples like Fr. Mull and Fr. Carlos, and myrrh- an oil used for anointing the dying which reminds us that He was human and died for us. The gifts he received explain the roles in which He was given and to remind us of the greatest gift He is for us.

We are pleased to announce that this coming Monday will be a dress in your Spirit Wear Day! If your child does not want to dress in their spirit wear shirt or the other ordered spirit wear, they may dress in the uniform of the day.

Our students have begun to work on their mid-year i-Ready diagnostic. It is one of the many data points we used to inform our instruction. What is nice about i-Ready is students can see their progress in math and reading from the beginning to the mid-year mark. We will have the data for you by end of January and early February.

We have many save the dates including our Scholastic Book Fair, Monterrey Mexican Restaurant Fundraiser, Open House for current and prospective families, and Catholic Schools' Week. More information about these are below.

PTO will meet this coming Tuesday, January 10th at 6:30 pm.

By the end of next week, you will know more about re-registering your child(ren) for the 2023 - 2024 school year. A few inquiries have come across my email and phone about tours and open house. Please continue to spread the good news about our school, it's working!

We are very blessed to be in a very supportive community.

Bernie Lynch was so grateful for our classroom Christmas trees in his windows and heard many comments about how lovely they were, how nice it was to see the school active and vibrant, and many other pleasant comments. It made a difference. We raised $123.50 from the voting portion. We crowned the middle school grades with the spirit of Christmas as their tree raised the most. Mr. Lynch is excited to continue having the decorated trees in his windows next year - a new tradition!

We have heard from three of the four businesses who participated in the Downtown Holiday Shopping Days. The weather was unpredictable, but we are very close to meeting the $500 goal. We have received $430.65 from this event. Thank you to all those who went out to support small businesses and our school.

Our next event is a restaurant fundraiser. Monterrey Mexican Restaurant will donate 10% of the orders at both the Geneva and Newark Restaurant on Tuesday, January 17th. Just mention the school. Please help us spread the word. The ad we are using is below.

We are working with the Knights of Columbus on two upcoming fundraising events. More details to follow once they have been finalized.

It's almost that time of year!

We are so excited about celebrating our school. We are continuing some of the traditions and doing a couple of extra things. A couple of items about the week to note:

• Mass to kick start the week will be Saturday, January 28th at 4:30 pm. We ask students to attend in their dress uniforms. We have many of our students lectoring, singing in the choir, playing music, assisting ushers, and greeting. Following Mass, we will go to the school gym for the traditional carnival. We could use middle school student and adult help with the carnival games.
  
  
• We will have an open house on Wednesday, February 1st from 6 pm to 7 pm. We hope each current family will bring a prospective family or family friends who are school age. There will be ice cream and popsicles, class displays, and the Scholastic Book Fair. We hope everyone can come. Our snow date, if needed, will be the next Wednesday.
  
  
• Friday, February 3rd will be a new tradition - a special person lunch. Each student will be allowed to bring ONE special guest to lunch. We have two generous benefactors providing pasta, sauce, meatballs, and salad for our free lunch this day. There will be NO pizza order for this day. If your child will not be eating our menu, please send a lunch.

There will be a RSVP form sent home Monday, January 9th to be completed for this special person lunch.

Current families in Preschool - grade 7 will be automatically re-enrolled for next school year in FACTS.

More information about when this will occur will be given next week along with the updated tuition information.

If your child will not be returning for the 2023 - 2024 school year, a letter with the intention to not return is needed to be sent to Ms. Pohorence by March 1st.

Another good weekend for the Crusaders.

The 3/4 Coed team won a nail biter against St. Pius 21-20. The Crusaders were led by Tripp Tapscott with 8 point and Carson Baxter with 6. Matt Prindle had 4 points including the go ahead basket and the Crusaders were able to hold on for the victory. Nora Hoffman scored her first points of the season as well. The 3/4 team is now 3 – 0 for the season.

The 5/6/7 girls team defeated St. Jerome’s by a score of 56-11. The Crusaders were led by the dynamic due of Kate Good with 16 points and Oliva Tapscott with 14. Elizabeth Scibona added 4 points and Molly Lamson contributed 2 points in the victory. The team is now 3 – 0 to start the season.

The 6/7/8 Boys team faced off against the ST. John’s of Rochester. No report at printing time.
