Principal's Message
Dear Families, Friends and Community,
Believe it or not, sun and fun are right around the corner!
With that being said, as a team of instructional leaders we continue to analyze, share and discuss data in order to refine our professional practice and to raise student achievement/performance levels. Please review the following data questions below that Grade Band Teams (GBTs) examined during last month's professional development day in support of the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP).
1. What are you attempting to measure and monitor through pre/post assessments?
2. What do you look for to determine the quality of a student's response/answer?
3. What specific-effective teaching strategies define a top-tier teaching and learning cycle?
4. Beyond a grade, how do you communicate academic success/growth to your students?
5. How do you define social-emotional learning data?
The research is clear, in schools where teachers examined the evidence of the impact of teaching effectiveness on student achievement and regarded professional practices as the primary cause of achievement, the gains in student achievement were three times higher than in schools where educational/instructional leaders attributed the causes to factors beyond their control.
On another note, Ohio's State Achievement Tests begin this week, please see the established testing schedule below.
*Language Arts & Math (Grades 3-8), Science (Grades 5 & 8), Algebra 1 Retakes and American History: April 10 - May 1
*Algebra 1, Biology, Geometry & Government (Grades 9, 10 & 11): May 2 - May 10
Testing will take place throughout the day. The morning session will begin no later than 9:00am. Please insist on timely attendance. We want all our students to be settled, comfortable and confident as they enter the testing process...let's get ready to roll!
WE ARE ALL ROCKET STRONG!

Traffic Safety: AM Drop-Off & PM Pick-Up
Please know that the small visitor lot is not to be used for student drop-off/pick-up. The parking spaces are coned off between 7:20-8:20am and 2:20-3:20pm. The larger side lot has plenty of available parking spaces that face the sidewalk that leads to the main entrance of the building.
During student arrival and dismissal, all drivers are expected to...
1. Remain in their vehicles
2. Remain in the drop-off/pick-up line which is curb-side along the front of the building
3. Pull all the way up to the orange cone located on the sidewalk beyond the main entrance
4. Drop-off/Pick-up students from the sidewalk
4. Provide school busses the Right-of-Way
There are additional staff members outside to support student safety. We experienced many close calls and several actual incidents last school year. Ultimately, the success of this process depends on you. Your cooperation and support is greatly appreciated!
