A Message from Principal Stephens
Dear Patterson Families,
Character education is an essential component of Patterson’s mission to teach the whole child. Each month we celebrate a different character trait as outlined by "The Be Kind People Project" by sharing ways to practice each trait with friends and family. Teachers and staff celebrate along with the students by recognizing students for their positive behaviors with our “Be Kind” tickets.
This month we are celebrating the Be Kind Focus – Be A Friend. We are so proud of our students’ commitment to kindness and friendship. We always look forward to seeing students showing each other positive traits around campus, in the hallways, and on the playground. Our staff looks forward to recognizing students for positive behavior each day. Our students and staff value character education and the belief that having good character is the root of all success. Ask your child about the Be Kind focus of the month and share with each other ways to demonstrate that trait, it will be fun!
In addition, we will look forward to adding "Celebrate Learning Nights" on our parent teacher conferences days in February. Before or after your scheduled conferences, you and your child can walk around the campus to see class displays of writing, art, and projects to celebrate their learning. Enjoy all of the Patterson learning!
Warmly,
Sarah Stephens

Exciting News for Book Lovers at Patterson Elementary School!
At Patterson, we have a passion for reading and are thrilled to host our very first FEBRUARY Scholastic Book Fair from February 9th to 16th. Check our Scholastic webpage for shopping hours and to sign up as a volunteer: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/charlottepattersonelementary
*Please note that the fair will not be held during conference week but will be open for parent shopping after school from 3:00pm-3:30pm on all days except the last day (Feb. 9-Feb 15).
We have some fun ideas to look forward to as we celebrate Read Across America during the first week of March and through spring break. Be prepared to emphasize reading as a family starting on Saturday, March 2, the official birth date of Dr. Seuss. In the meantime, you can also contact your child's teacher to schedule a visit to the classroom as a guest reader. It's a fun way to share your favorite book with your child's classmates and teachers!

Tax Credit Donations
Tax credit donations can be made anytime and can be credited to your child's extra curricular activity fees. The tax credit reduces your tax burden to the state of Arizona, dollar for dollar. It also reduces your taxable income to the federal government.
Our school uses tax credit donations for enrichment opportunities such as fieldtrips, assemblies, art masterpiece, clubs and many other activities.
To donate, visit the tax credit donation page on our CUSD website: Click Here or contact Shelley Krason, office manager at Patterson Elementary for more information and/or to donate at the school by cash or check. 480-224-3607; krason.shelley@cusd80.com
