Event chairs are still needed for next year. If you would like to volunteer to chair an event, please let us know. It’s a great way to give back to our Sunset Community.
Have books at home that you’d like to donate? Please have your child bring them to school. Children will then be able to swap it for a book of their choice. Many thanks to Joy Vlcko for her hard work organizing this event.
Thank you to Cheryl Fretz, our garden chair for continuing to help our garden grow! Thank you also to Adam Deglmann, Aaron Rotkowski, and Jeff Jacob for building Sunset’s garden shed.
Have a Wonderful Summer Break!!
IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER REMINDER
Are you interested in volunteering in end-of-year events - classroom celebrations, field day and more? If you are, please make sure you're signed up in our HelpCounter system first. We appreciate all of our community volunteers, but only those who have been approved can do so.
Last year, the district launched an updated process for volunteer registration and sign-in to improve safety and security for students. The HelpCounter system includes an approval process and helps staff monitor exactly who is working in WLWV schools.
Interested volunteers can register by visiting the district website. Simply click ‘Start’ to fill out your application, which includes a background check. The first time that volunteers sign-in to volunteer at any WLWV school they will be prompted to accept a Volunteer Agreement. Volunteers must also re-register every three years, or when volunteering at a new school.
Volunteering in WLWV schools is an extremely rewarding experience. Your time is greatly appreciated by both staff and students!
Are you moving? Do you know of a family moving into the Sunset Boundary?

Teen Leadership Training
For students entering grades 8 - 10 in the fall
CREST’s Teen Leadership Training is the first step to becoming a camp counselor with our summer camp programs for kids, and is an excellent way for teens to gain leadership skills and career experience. CREST counselors are role models for our young campers, and are often a camper’s favorite part of the camp experience. As a counselor, students help lead games, nature hikes, and other activities at camp. The Teen Leadership Training will help counselors gain leadership skills, including public speaking, group management, and teamwork. We focus on learning and practicing the fun games and activities that we do at camp, so that counselors will be prepared to help lead a small group of campers and be part of our dynamic camp staff. After the training, counselors can choose to volunteer at one of our primary level summer camps.
