Dear OMS families,

We are so excited to welcome back our kindergarten, first grade, and fifth-grade hybrid students next week. Mondays will remain remote for all students. Our teachers have been preparing their classrooms for our returning owls, and the energy in the building feels like the first week of school again! Hoot, hoot, hooray!

We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to our PTA who "Stocked the Lounge" for our staff during our Hybrid Learning Planning Days. The kindness and generosity are incredibly appreciated. See the photos below! (Can you spot Mrs. Kappelman?)

Please see the attached building map for the door your child will enter/exit when he or she returns to school for our Hybrid model. Doors will open at 8:50 and students will enter the building. First grade will enter/exit door 20, Grades 3 and 4 will enter/exit at the main entrance Door 1, Kindergarten and Grades 2 & 5 will enter/exit Door 7, and bus riders will enter/exit through Door 19.

Please watch the following video with your children. Ms. Davis highlights a few new things students will see when coming to school during our hybrid learning days. Visit the drinking fountains, handwashing station in the commons, playground, nurse's office, and more. Just a sneak peek into what we will be teaching our students in the coming weeks.

Medication for This School Year

As we are set to begin Hybrid In-Person Learning, it is important to note that all medication requests must be renewed each school year. All medication administered at school (including over-the-counter medication) requires a completed Medication Administration Form with physician and parent signature. We cannot accept medication without an updated medication form.

• Asthma inhalers

All inhaler requests require a parent signature and a photocopy of the prescription label from the inhaler box placed on the Asthma Inhaler Permission Form. In addition, legislation directs school districts to request an Asthma Action Plan for all students with asthma.

• Food Allergy Emergency Medication

All food allergy emergency medication requests (epinephrine and antihistamines) must be renewed each school year. Required forms include Illinois Food Allergy Emergency Action Plan, Lunch Table Preference Form, and the Annual Severe Allergy Survey.

Please provide medication as ordered by your physician (i.e. if the provider orders liquid, provide liquid form) and please check expiration dates of medication. No expired medication will be accepted.
