DCSD Board of Education approved MLO/Bond for 2023 Ballot
The DCSD Board of Education voted unanimously to place a $66M Mill Levy Override and $484M Bond on the November 2023 ballot. All Board directors expressed their strong support and personal dedication to our students and our staff. The passage of the mill levy/bond would increase pay, enhance Safety and Security, invest in Career and Technical education, upgrade buildings, build new schools, and invest in the community. how additional funding would benefit our schools and our staff, visit www.dcsdk12.org/funding.
CRFD Annual Fire Safety Poster Contest
Every fall the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department hosts the Annual Fire Safety Poster Contest. This fun and educational coloring contest is a safety message turned into creatively colored pictures by any of the 3rd – 6th graders in the Castle Rock area that wish to participate. Here is a little video overview of the contest and what the contest entails.
2023’s theme is: “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.” The purpose of the contest is to give local students an opportunity to collaborate with CRFD in fire safety. The winning entries will be made into a decal that is placed on the side of a fire truck where it will ride throughout the entire year. Almost every resident and visitor of Castle Rock gets to see these messages throughout the year!
The five winners from 2022 were students from:
- Academy Charter School
- Clear Sky Elementary School
- Rock Ridge Elementary School
- South Ridge Elementary School
Will FSE students be next?
The contest will start on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 and go until Friday, September 15, 2023. Presentations at winning schools will take place during Fire Prevention Week (10/9-10/12). Contest forms will be available in the coming week or so. Contact Mrs Carmody, FSE Art teacher, with questions at: ncarmody1@dcsdk12.org.
