aaand we're back! We hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. In a couple short weeks, we'll be out again on Winter Break. These few weeks in between have been and are going to be full of fun and phenomenal opportunities for our students. This week we successfully completed our November fire safety drill. Staff were not notified in advance. Students and staff performed with flying colors. It was flawless. Before we head out on break, we'll do one more earthquake safety drill, which will certainly be just as successful.

Yesterday, OASIS San Diego, an organization focused on preventing isolation and loneliness in older adults so they can stay healthy and engaged, launched their Intergenerational Reading Program at Fletcher with an enormous book giveaway. Every student at Fletcher went home with THREE brand new books. Check out the pictures in our "Highlights of the Week".

In the coming weeks, Fletcher is about to start a campus-wide, exterior paint job. The crew will be loading and staging a storage container up on the blacktop next week. Work should start soon thereafter. In keeping with the school colors of navy blue and neon green, those two elements will play a big part in the reimagining of our space. In the spirit of co-construction, the beginning work of Vision for 2030 has been led by San Diego Unified students- to learn more about this endeavor please watch this two minute student constructed (Video). As we seek to continue to co-construct our vision, we need your leadership, your voice, and your help. The Fletcher Team will be participating in a World Cafe workshop to engage in conversations about learner, educator, and systems profiles necessary for defining our vision. The workshop will be from 5:30-7:00 PM on December 14th via zoom. Our Student of the Week for is Adam in Mrs. Wilson's 1st Grade Class. Adam is always listening during instruction time. He uses the strategies and information being taught to become better at reading, writing, and math. He is kind and helpful to his friends and respectful to his teacher Way to go, Adam! Thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!

Weekly voluntary COVID screenings resumed this week and will continue to take place weekly on Monday mornings. The more students we have signed up for the screenings, the sooner we can identify symptomatic and asymptomatic cases to reduce community spread.
