Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- I know we only had two days of school, but we expended a weeks worth of energy to get it done right! It’s a bit of a shock to our students as well. Many were used to sleeping in, even if they had to work or come to practice at school during some point in the day. So, when you add that full day of school onto extra-curricular activities or work, it can wear you out. If your student doesn’t feel like doing much this weekend, they might just be little tired. However, if they’re like my kids, they’ll find energy to go out with their friends, but be too tired to mow the lawn! Classic teenager move.
I’m very optimistic about good things happening this school year. When we are able to plan ahead a bit more and anticipate what’s coming next and have two years of operational experience under our belt, it’s a good feeling. I really can’t say enough about the quality people that I work with. In every type of position a school setting has, we have people that “get it”. They understand that we’re about creating an environment and experience for our students where they can thrive in all aspects of their school life. And thrive they will this year. I’m confident all students will continue to grow academically this year, and I’m hopeful some will make gains even beyond a typical year of learning.
On the athletic and activity side we’re reaching new levels of success even early on in the season.
If you attended the football game against CV last Friday, you could feel the energy and electricity in the on stadium. It gives me great joy to see so many of our students attending or participating in some way on game days. In addition to RHS students, I saw so many k-8 students there as well. And they were getting into the spirit by dressing to the theme, or wearing Ridgeline gear, or just hanging out with friends cause that’s what you do on a Friday night in your hometown. I grew up in the small town of Odessa WA, and I was having some of those vibes from my own high school days. Even on such a larger scale at Ridgeline, it had a real community feel.
We had a great first couple days, and today’s newsletter has some highlights to enjoy(including me pictured with our ASB officers at morning assembly day 1). It also has a lot of the information to get the year started, so please do what I always suggest and take a quick skim through and check out what’s going on!
Stay tuned next week for some thoughts of mine on valet parking and student drop-off and pick-up…
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt
