Mattos Family Update
March 27, 2023
THANK YOU MATTOS FAMILIES FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF OUR MARATHON!
Dear Mattos Families,
Friday morning was such a FUN time! The sun was shining, music was playing, and It was wonderful to see so many families on campus cheering their student(s) at the Mattos Marathon. I'm very excited and grateful to all the families and friends who helped us get closer and closer to our goal to fund much needed technology, teacher grants, science program projects, and more at Mattos! These donations are extremely important, especially as we are going to be seeing less funds at the school site next year due to decreases in enrollment in FUSD.
Last Thursday night, we were fortunate to have a short presentation on "Positive Discipline" for Mattos parents/guardians. Thank you to everyone who attended. You can refer to the slides here and view the video of the presentation (approx. 30 minutes) here. I know many of took away one or more ideas to start implementing at home. There are two additional documents that were shared with me that I found helpful as well- "Positive Discipline Guidelines" and "Turn Your Word Into Gold."

Mattos Book Fair is Back- 3/31-4/6
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our homes and school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits. Also, books make great presents!
The Book Fair will take place from FRIDAY, MARCH 31ST – THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH in the Mattos Library. The Book Fair will be open for classes to come visit during their library time, recess, lunch recess and after school. It will also be open during Open House on TUESDAY, APRIL 4TH FROM 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.
This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you are unable to attend the Book Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/mattos. Our Online Fair is available from March 31st – April 13th. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school! Happy reading!

Attendance Matters
Forget Something at Home?
When items are forgotten at home, it is important to not interrupt instruction. Please drop off all forgotten items by 9:45 a.m. Anything dropped off by then should be left on the cart outside the office and labeled with student name and room #. A yard duty will deliver those items by 10 a.m. Anything left after 10 a.m. will need to be picked up by your child (we will call the classroom). Please help us out and bring all items by 9:45 a.m.
