Message from Mr. Fisher
We are into the third month of the current school year!
School has been in session for a while now so everyone is in place for the rest of the year, right? Well, not quite. Even with school in full swing we still look for opportunities to better support our teachers.
In this newsletter you will see that we are continuing to seek substitute teachers.
In some cases the substitute teachers we are looking for are long term subs. In the next month or so, we will also be replacing a couple of long term substitute teachers with full time teachers we hired that were not able to join the district until now. Additionally, we have a couple of current student teachers who will be moving to full time teaching assignments after they graduate in December.
We also have an exciting Principal announcement at Gates Elementary along with upcoming well-deserved retirements in GISH leadership. That is just the teaching side of this equation.
Throughout the fall we have continued needs for staff members in many areas. From para educators, to nutrition staff, to administrative assistants, to grounds and maintenance workers. We are continually looking for new staff members.
So if you are looking for your next career move, or just looking to have something to do to fill a day here or there keep GIPS in mind. The work that people do across our district helps to create opportunities for our students. Great people are what makes our district great!

GIPS Podcast
"The GIPS Cast" is the district podcast exploring the world of public education through the voices of Grand Island Public Schools.
Abel Covarrubias (GISH Class of 2010), Director of the Nebraska College Preparatory Academy through UNL, sits down with "The GIPS Cast" to share how his time at Grand Island Senior High changed his trajectory.
Along the way, he shares his experiences as an early cohort member in NCPA at GISH, what inspiring first generation university students looks like, and why it takes a village to invest in students. He also salutes a few GIPS educators who changed his life by simply giving him access to resources.
Because students will achieve remarkable things once they know how to get there.
You may listen to "The GIPS Cast" on the district website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your favorite podcast platform!
