A.L.I.C.E. Emergency Response:
On Monday, October 30th, 2023, we will conduct team-based meetings during the weekly "SEL" blocks. The purpose will be to provide an overview of our school's emergency response protocol and answer any questions the students may have. The staff participated in this training during our September early dismissal day.
We will be practicing a school-wide training exercise within the next 2 weeks. I will send a connect-ed message following the school-wide training.

Costumes for a Cause McCarthy “Junior High” School
Costumes for a Cause
McCarthy Middle School
We are excited to announce our “Costumes for a Cause” event! This was a long-
standing tradition at Parker and is a fantastic way to help contribute to an important cause
while celebrating as a school community. I have learned very quickly that the folks who
have been at McCarthy all along take this holiday very seriously, and I am hoping we can
capture some of that enthusiasm and help support our friends and neighbors in need.
This year we will donate all proceeds to Project 300!
Students and staff are invited to wear costumes on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31st
2023. Students and staff who choose to wear a costume are encouraged to give a
donation (suggestion of $1.00) in order to participate. Buckets will be set up in the main
lobby area for people to donate. This is a great way to be creative and have some fun
too! Participation is, of course, optional.
Event Rules:
● Costumes should be comfortable and safe to wear all day.
● Student faces must be clearly visible. Face paint is fine, no masks.
● Costumes must be appropriate for middle school (same standards for daily
clothing).
● Costume provides no safety risk or distraction to the wearer or others in class.
Must be easily set aside - nothing to trip over.
● Absolutely NO weapons or replica weapons in the costume including, but not
limited to: guns, swords/knives, chains, etc.
picture retake day thursday november 9,2023
Students who wish to have a RETAKE need to simply return their original package to the photographer. Students with Retakes do not need to complete a new order form.
Students who were photographed for school service but did not purchase a portrait package are not eligible for retakes unless their eyes were closed or there was a technical flaw in the original portrait. We appreciate your cooperation with this, as it will prevent students from coming to the camera who do not need to be photographed again.Parents please call O'Connor Studios. (978-640-6250) if you submitted a late order and haven't received the package yet.

In order for an absence to be marked as "Excused", families will need to provide medical documentation.
Thank you for your understanding.
Medication should be given by the nurse
Good afternoon,
Just a reminder to parents that home medication should not be sent to school with students, the health office is well equipped to medicate, and can call home or work with families for specific needs. Students should not take medication unsupervised at school.
Thank you,

What's for breAKFEAST & Lunch ?
Lunch/Cafeteria Reminder:
Lunch/Cafeteria Reminder:
Our school is considered to be "nut aware" and not nut free. Although nuts are allowed, no students are permitted to share food in the building. It is also considered best practice not to have students bring in shelled peanuts for the safety of others. It is important for students to understand that if they are bringing in nut products, they cannot share them regardless of whether the other student is allergic or not. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that no student experiences an anaphylactic response and we can help prevent those events together.
While we have these discussions with students throughout the day, it would be helpful and appreciated if you would address this at home as well.

CPS BUS REGISTRATION
BUS REGISTRATION INFORMATION
All students are required to register every year if they would like to ride the bus, even if they do not need to pay a fee. If all students register to ride the bus, the district has more accurate student/rider data, therefore bus routes may be established with better efficiency and on-time performance. The determination of a fee or no fee is based on the grade of the student and the mileage between home and school. Please click link for more information on bus registration. https://chelmsfordschools.org/departments/transportation/
