Open House 2023-2024
Attention all families and students!
Don't forget to mark your calendar for the upcoming Open House dates at our schools. This year is going to be the best yet, and our schools are excited to show off all the hard work they've been putting in. You won't want to miss out on this opportunity to see it all firsthand!
See you there!
Favorite Part of the 1st Week of School
The first full week of school is officially in the books! Mr. Goodwin, Callahan Middle School's Assistant Principal, took some time during lunch to chat with students, teachers, and staff about their favorite part of the week.
Pirates Set Sail
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the first day back, the Fernandina Beach Middle School Pirates were getting ready to set sail. Excited chatter filled the halls as students found their way, catching up with teachers and reconnecting with old friends. It was a lively and spirited start to what promised to be an exciting school year.
Introductions
During introductions, Mrs. Rau’s class learned the importance of clear, concise language when communicating with one another. Students were placed in small groups of 4 to build a spaghetti tower. Their only rules were that their structure had to be free-standing, not propped up by anything, and it had to be the tallest and strongest to support the weight of a jumbo marshmallow. This was a great way to introduce how to communicate effectively and positively with one another. A great way to set the tone for the class!
We Grow Better Together
This week in Mrs. Vessel’s class at Wildlight Elementary School, students dug into the theme, “We grow better together.” No matter how different we may act, talk, look, or behave, students were taught that “we all smile in the same language.” To show students the diversity of our creativeness, each person designed a smiley face to place on the bulletin board. Students compare and contrast smiley faces to gain a better understanding of how we are all unique in our own ways.
Kindergarten Signing Day
For their first day of school, the Kindergarten students at Wildlight Elementary experienced signing day! They each took turns signing a certificate to become our newest Trailblazers on campus!
Small Group
ELA teachers at Emma Love Elementary have quickly established small group expectations and routines.
Learning to Work Together
The creativity and teamwork of 3rd graders at Yulee Elementary is truly inspiring! They're not only learning about center rotations but also having fun with a STEM activity called Saving Fred. And to top it off, they're making friendship bracelets together! What a wonderful way to learn and bond with one another.
New Classmates, New Friends
Mrs. Ray's class has developed strong bonds and even made friendship bracelets to commemorate their new class family.
Tell Your Story
Faculty and staff at Yulee Elementary are sharing their stories! Each quarter, the staff will be given a prompt to respond to. Responses are posted in the cafeteria for all students and staff to read. This quarter’s prompt asks staff to share about a person in their life that has influenced them and helped them get to where they are now.
