This systematic review and meta-analysis considered studies that used odds ratios (or provided data to calculate odds ratios) on cesarean deliveries by physician sex (male or female). The results showed that female-identified physicians are less likely to prefer and/or perform cesarean deliveries than male-identified physicians.

This post considers the two surveys featured in a New York Times article, which highlighted how adolescents have been impacted by COVID-19. The blog post also evaluates how these findings should apply to Title V MCH programs.

Public Health is for Everyone is an online toolkit which serves as a one-stop resource to increase the capacity of public health professionals to create programs that benefit entire communities, including people who have disabilities. It provides public health professionals with resources to enhance their planning efforts in key issue areas.

This tool from MDH is meant to serve as a guide for a spectrum of community and public programs that provide services to high-risk youth and young adults. It outlines the challenges that justice involved youth (JIY) face in regards to accessing appropriate preventive health services. It also provides an overview of JIY in MN and information about healthy youth development and opportunities to provide positive strength based support. There are service provider specific recommendations and resources to optimize care and address the special health needs and challenges of the JIY population. The focus of this guide is on youth who are potentially eligible for Medicaid and Child and Teen Checkups services. This Guide was made possible through the hard work of MCH students Alexandra Gowdy-Jaehing and Mai Vue.

The WI Population Health Service Fellowship Program is a two-year service and training program designed for early career individuals in public health and allied sciences. Fellows are placed in practice-based settings in community, non-profit, governmental, and/or health service organizations around Wisconsin. Through a curriculum focused on health equity and collaborative leadership, Fellows leave the program with a health equity lens applied to their practice as well as tangible skills in public health programming and management. Apply by January 4, 2021.

The CDC Division of Reproductive Health’s Maternal Mortality Prevention Team is seeking Masters’ level graduates who are interested in a fellowship opportunity. The goal of this fellowship is to build capacity of recent graduates to address MCH challenges through contributing to the team’s maternal mortality surveillance and prevention activities. Interested candidates should send a resume and scientific writing sample to Amy St. Pierre, astpierre@cdc.gov by Friday, December 11, 2020.

MPHA's 2021 Annual Conference “Bold and Humble: Engaging in Anti-Racist Public Health"

takes place virtually from April 29-30, 2021. The conference will elevate MN-based initiatives on racial justice work and its intersectionality with a variety of public health topics such as disabilities and accessibility, LGBTQ, chronic disease, aging, injury and violence prevention, mental health, environmental, maternal and child health, and other timely topics. Proposals are due Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11:59 pm CST.
