December 7, 2023
Dear WPS families of students with disabilities,
This message is to inform you from Monday through Wednesday this week, the district experienced internet challenges including intermittent outages and very slow service that significantly impacted our ability to edit and send out documents including IEPs and 504s.
The internet issue has resolved as of this morning, and Your Evaluation Team Chairs and our administrative team are working diligently to ensure that documents are sent out timely to families.
We are concerned that this technical challenge may result in a missed deadline for documents that are due following meetings this week as well as in the recent past.
Please reach out to your evaluation team chair if you are concerned that an IEP or an evaluation consent form has not reached you within the regulatory timelines (10 school days for an IEP, and 5 school days for an evaluation consent form).
Thank you for your understanding as we are managing this issue that is outside of our control.
Wishing you and your families a safe and healthy holiday season.
~Kathleen Desmarais

Contact Information
As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child and their IEP or 504 services, please do not hesitate to reach out at the school level. Families of children with IEPs can contact their child’s special education liaison (typically their primary special education teacher) or their Evaluation Team Chair. For 504 plans, the guidance counselor and Evaluation Team Chair are the primary contacts. The building principal should be contacted if there are any issues that are not resolved after communications with the liaisons, classroom teachers, and Evaluation Team Chairs. For any additional questions, concerns, or information, please contact the Student Services office and ask to speak with the Assistant Director, Jason DelPorto, or Director, Kathleen Desmarais at 617 926 7766. We are here for you!
