Greetings from the New Principal
Mrs. Calo
Dear Kellogg School Community,
It is with great pleasure to introduce myself as principal of Lee H. Kellogg School. I am honored and excited to join the Kellogg School Community and am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you.
This is my 26th year in education. My career began in the Torrington and Waterbury school systems, before moving on to Region 14, where I have spent the past twelve years. I taught in both elementary and middle school classrooms, worked as a Title 1 reading teacher, a literacy facilitator, K-12 curriculum coordinator and instructional coach. I have extensive background in curriculum and instruction as well as literacy. My experiences have helped me see the social, academic and behavioral transitions of students as they move through their elementary levels and transition to middle school. I am eager and excited to bring my skills as an educational leader to the Lee H. Kellogg School.
Like you, I am a parent too. My husband Tom and I live in Woodbury and have three children, Chloe, Brady and Lux. Chloe is a sophomore at Ole Miss, Brady is a freshman at Roger Williams University and Lux is a junior at Nonnewaug High School.
Although I have always loved being in the classroom, I have truly felt that I have made the greatest impact working with both teachers and students. Our children are our greatest asset and all students have the ability to learn and succeed when given the opportunity and presented with the proper tools. I believe a great school is the result of great teachers and that is what we have here; an extremely dedicated staff. My goal is to support the teachers of the Lee H. Kellogg School and provide them with the tools they need to continue to be successful and help your children flourish and grow.
I am ecstatic to finally have started, and I plan to shine a bright light on our Kellogg School community every opportunity I can. I hope we can work together to celebrate our learners. Relationships between families and schools are vital to the success of our students. My door is always open and I look forward to growing this learning partnership with you.

So much to be thankful for...
I want to express my sincerest thanks to the Kellogg community. I was greeted by this amazing banner, signed by our students and staff on my first day. Thank you for taking the time to roll down your windows, I've loved being able to share hellos at drop off and pick up each day. Lastly, I loved getting to meet so many of you at the virtual Meet and Greet. A big thanks to Mrs. Faust and Mrs. Wadsworth for making that happen. I am truly grateful to be here with all of you.
