On Wednesday we were able to participate in our monthly yoga session to help us become more mindful and present for learning.
Be looking for a detailed email coming from Michelle Shepardson regarding the end-of year activities that we have been planning for our 8th graders.
We are in need of some coordinators and donations for these upcoming activities that will help us round out and celebrate their last days of Middle School!
Also in 8th Grade
Students exploring the Wheel of Theodorus! We are celebrating the intersection of art and mathematics! Students use their knowledge of Pythagorean Theorem to create the Wheel of Theodorus which is made of right triangles with irrational roots as the hypotenuse.

Millis Middle Art News
Youth Art Month Exhibit
Six Millis Middle School students have had their artwork chosen for display in the upcoming Youth Art Month celebration exhibit held by the Massachusetts Art Education Association. The annual exhibit features artwork by K-12 students across Massachusetts.This year’s exhibit will be virtual and will go live on March 17. Stay tuned for the link.

The following 7th grade students were recognized at the February huddle for meeting the learning standards: Nathan Sumner, Olivia Peterson, Bella Giargiari, Logan Berube, and Luke Gibbons. Congratulations!
The new goal of the month is stamina. The teachers look forward to recognizing students at the next huddle!
The 7th grade students are enjoying the flexible seating (wobble stools and roller stools) in math class granted by MERIT.

Hope that all is well with everyone as we all prepare for a quick deep freeze over this weekend. Hopefully short lived but please be safe and stay warm.
Things are going well here at MMS as we are in the middle of our second tri-mester. Today, we will be sending home progress reports with your students. Please check in with them and see how they are progressing in Tri-mester II.

As it states below, grade eight teachers are hard at work planning for the end of the year for our grade 8 students. These activities include, promotion ceremony, grade 8 dance, field day and other activities. We do have tentative dates for these activities that we will share shortly. Although our winter this year has been mild we still have a few more weeks. We will send out EOY dates to families at the beginning of March. Please also stay tuned for their volunteer request. Looking forward to a great end of year with our grade eight students!

The Millis Ecumenical Food Pantry is available to any Millis resident in need.
Location: Church of Christ, Bottom Floor—142 Exchange Street, Millis
Hours of Operation: Saturdays (10am-12pm), and also the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month (10am-12pm).
In order to shop at the pantry, all you need is proof of Millis residency, and you will be
registered and can shop the same day.

6th grade art students looked at traditional Chinese Scroll Paintings. They created their own images and folded them into lanterns in celebration of Lunar New Year which begins on January 22.
