A Message from Our Principal
Even though we are almost finished with January, I would like to welcome everyone back for the start of the 2nd semester. The spring semester is extremely busy, and I would like to take this opportunity to make note of a couple important reminders for this semester.
Starting at the end of March, we will begin our ACAP testing. These tests are extremely important for our school, as we are graded on how well our students perform. It is imperative that all of us- faculty, students, and parents- make the most of the limited time we have before these tests. In order to do that, the most important thing everyone can do is be present at school. If students are not present, they cannot learn.
Attendance will also impact exemptions for the final exams. Please review the exemption policy in the code of conduct. Students have been informed of the exemption policy several times this semester. If a student has an unexcused absence, they will not be allowed to exempt any exam. This also applies for check-outs and check-ins. Please make sure you look at your child’s attendance on PowerSchool to ensure that excuses are being turned in. You are always welcome to email excuses to our secretary, Mrs. Hollingsworth (rhollingsworth@tuscumbia.k12.al.us), or myself (sking@tuscumbia.k12.al.us).
I look forward to what the spring semester holds for our students. While we are putting a big emphasis on ACAP testing, there are also fun activities planned. It is hard to believe the 2023-2024 school year is halfway finished, and we are going to make the best of it!
