CMEA Weekly News
November 9th, 2023
Thank you to all those who voted and helped us pass 5A! This is so exciting! And your support of schools in Douglas County is so appreciated!
To celebrate, CMEA set up a fun speakeasy in the staff lounge, where staff members could be their own mixologists with mocktails. Thank you to our Hospitality Committee for this fun surprise!
Book Fair Is Next Week (And We Need Volunteers!)
It's time for our annual fall book fair! It’s a great time to stock up on reading gifts before the holidays! And if you're as pumped about it as we are, we'd love your help! We have volunteer shifts across a variety of days and times between November 10th and 17th.
Our First All Pro Dad's Breakfast Is Coming Up!
Spirit MONTH! Krispy Kreme Donuts!
Charitable (so guilt-free), fresh to order (and perfectly glazed) dozens!!
Throughout THE ENTIRE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, more than 50% of orders will be donated back to CME when you purchase your doughnuts using our fundraising sales page! That's more than $7.50 per dozen coming straight to CME!!
Man, what a way to say "Thanks," amiright? (wink wink)
Show Some Holiday Love With SCRIPS (Giftcrowd)!
SCRIPS is BACK!
SCRIPS is an easy and great way to show how much you appreciate the teachers and staff who make Copper Mesa a great place for your child. Through SCRIPS, you can contribute funds toward gift cards that are then given to teachers and staff, along with all the contributions from other families.
We will also have the privilege of sponsoring 8 local families (with a combined total of 14 kids) as a part of our SCRIPS program.
Be on the lookout in next week’s newsletter for a Google Form and MySchoolBucks link to participate.

Got Pics?
Please share your fun CME moments with our Copper Mesa Yearbook Committee at coppermesayearbook@gmail.com to help us create the most memorable yearbook. We would love to see photos from Donuts and Grownups, Spirit Rocks, Field Trips, Class Parties, Watch D.O.G.S., or anything else you've captured. Be sure to include your student’s grade and teacher with each submission.
We are able to do so many events and fundraisers for our school because of the wonderful volunteers we have. If you are interested in helping our efforts, please let us know by completing our online form and indicating the areas you would like to help us with this year: Volunteer Form.
Book Fair Volunteers
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Ongoing
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.
The purpose of the program:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
Upcoming CMEA Events: Ongoing
We are always looking for volunteers for Teacher/Staff Appreciation, our Daughter Event, our Son Event, School Beautification, our Spring Fundraiser, etc. If you would like to volunteer with CMEA in any way, please let us know.
COPPER MESA YEARBOOK
Help us create a memorable yearbook by sharing your pictures with our yearbook committee. This can be at school events, the Spirit Rock, class parties, class field trips, school clubs, etc. Please email photos to coppermesayearbook@gmail.com and include your child’s name and teacher.
KING SOOPERS CARDS
One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year, our total donation received is typically in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so. It’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
- Visit kingsooperscommunityrewards.com.
- Sign in or register with your King Soopers card or phone number.
- Click on Enroll.
- Search by school code (AB638) or organization name (Copper Mesa Elementary School - CMEA).
RENT THE ROCK!
Don’t forget to reserve the Spirit Rock for your special dates! Sign up HERE for the date you need and submit payment through MySchoolBucks or drop off cash/checks at the front office.
**Please remember: Reservations do not begin until 4:00 pm the day prior to your reservation. Rock painting should not begin prior to 4:00 p.m. We appreciate your cooperation.**
MILK CAPS FOR MOOLA
We are collecting Longmont Dairy Milk Caps again this year. There is a box near the front office desk where you can deposit them. Thank you!
SPIRIT WEAR
Customizable Spirit Wear is always available at Schmancy Tees and Gifts. Orders take about two weeks and are delivered right to your child’s classroom.

School Improvement Survey Results
After having the survey open for a month and a half, we have results!
There were 63 responses (19% staff | 71% CME family | 10% CME staff & family)
Top response: Shade structure (49%)
2nd place: Playground/asphalt resurfacing (37%)
3rd place: Tie between new gym floor and handball wall (32%)
Thanks to everyone who participated in our survey. We will be following up on specifics for a shade structure over the playground equipment and resurfacing the asphalt area, so stay tuned!
