FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
While we've had our fair share of rain - and indoor recess - over the past two weeks, we're looking forward to warmer weather and sunnier days ahead. Let's hope that the old adage is true, and April showers really do bring May flowers! After all, as Lady Bird Johnson remarked, "where flowers bloom so does hope!"
Also, as Leo Tolstoy wrote, "spring is the time of plans and projects," and there is certainly no shortage of these at Father Doyle! Firstly, our second graders will be making their First Communion tomorrow, Saturday, May 6th. Mass will begin promptly at 11:00am. In addition, on Monday, May 8th the school will hold its annual May Crowning service and procession. If your planning to join us, the prayer service will begin at 1:00pm in the Church, and all families are welcome to attend.
You can also plan to join us at one of our Junior or Grammar soccer games soon! Both seasons are well underway, with teams competing this evening in Warwick, as well as throughout the week next week. We wish our players and coaches all the best in the season ahead!
As far as projects go, be sure to check out our Home Projects for the Virtue in Practice for the month of May. See the Virtue Corner below for more information. Also, our middle school students have begun work on their culminating Capstone Project - an annual tradition here at Doyle that asks students to apply knowledge from across the content areas as they work to define and provide examples of true human greatness. We look forward to their presentations in June!
Lastly, don't forget to join us for Doyle Dinner Theater on Saturday, May 20th! Come support our Show Choir and the FJVD Drama Program. Doors open at 6:30pm at the Parish Center. Purchase your tickets here.
Please be sure to continue reading for important updates and information for the coming weeks!
Introducing FJVD Youth Group! First Meeting May 10th! Grades 4-8
We're pleased to announce that our first Youth Group evening will be held Wednesday, May 10th beginning at 6:15pm in the Church. The evening will start with 15-20 minutes of silent prayer, guided meditation, etc. at the Church. We will then walk to the school gym for games and social time until 7:30pm.
In addition, please note that Youth Group will also meet on the following dates/times:
- Wednesday, May 24th, 6:15pm-7:30pm
- Wednesday, June 7th, 6:15pm-7:30pm
Interested in serving as a Youth Group chaperone? Complete the chaperone survey here to volunteer!
Lastly, a note that all Youth Group meetings are "no phone zones." Students may elect to either leave their phones/smart devices at home or, if preferred, leave them with a chaperone at the meeting for the evening.
