Happy New Year Frog Pond Family!
It’s hard to believe it’s 2024. I hope you all had an opportunity to enjoy the holiday season with friends and family. While the cold weather is settling in outside, exciting opportunities are heating up here at Frog Pond.
Our After School Drama Club continues on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have our Living History Museum on January 11th. Students will be presenting during the day and parents will be able to visit in the evening at 5:30pm. School will be closed on January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Day. On January 24th, Reclam the Bay will be coming to visit some of our 4th grade classes, and students will have a Reading Rocks Assembly on January 29th. To close out the month of January, we will be having our Inventors Fair on January 31st. Students will be presenting during the day and parents will be able to visit in the evening at 5:30pm.
As you can see, January is packed with exciting events, and there will be more to come. We are looking forward to an awesome 2024!
Sincerely,

News from our Student Government
Thank you all for your donations! All the food we collected through Casual for a Cause and the student government food drive will be donated to the Greater Tuckerton Food Pantry. They are very happy. I also want to note that our amazing PTO donated an extra $200 worth of goods. It will go a long way toward helping the community!
Donate Your Old Shoes
January starts our newest school fundraiser! Help our sixth grade by donating sneakers! We accept sneakers in any condition, but the better the condition, the more we can earn. Collection boxes will be in the front school lobby. Thank you for all your support.
Santa Visits Frog Pond
Learning about Terrapins
Did you know a turtle's scutes are as unique to each turtle as fingerprints are to humans? Mrs. Mahan and Mrs. Covone have six turtle hatchlings in their classroom. The students have loved learning about this amazing species native to this area and what they need to survive. Students have a chance to learn responsibility by feeding the turtles each morning.
🎄 December Door Decorating Fun 🎄
Congratulations to all our winners! The students did a wonderful job!
Mrs.Costello and Mrs. Randall's STEAM Class
Beginning in October, 6th graders started to learn how to bring their ideas to life with Tinkercad, an online 3D modeling program. In a few short weeks, students started designing their very own holiday ornament and took home a 3D printed version! In STEAM each class celebrated the Hour of Code using the Bee-Bot App, Box Island App, and code.org. We are coding using our Dash robots too. The goal is to practice coding for at least one hour.
The 6th graders at Frog Pond are learning about climate change and its effects in science. As part of this unit, the students were fortunate enough to have an assembly presentation from two local climate scientists. On Friday, Kaitlin Gannon, Education Coordinator for the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve and Lisa Auermuller, Associate Director for Rutgers University Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences volunteered to come in and present to the students to help deepen their understanding of this topic. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

🎵 Dreher Music Newsletter Contribution 🎵
The FPE Chorus and Band brought the holiday spirit to the community through their winter concert on December 13th! We are very proud of the students' hard work preparing for the concert. Students also enjoyed playing various holiday tunes in small groups using ukuleles, boomwhackers, and xylophones during the week leading up to winter break. They explored ways to work as a team and play through the chord progressions.
Spring chorus registration is open now until Thursday, January 11th. Rehearsals resume the week of January 16th. Please email Mrs. Dreher with any questions!

🌦️ Meteorologist visits Frog Pond 🌦️
Joe Martucci, the meteorologist from the Press of Atlantic City, presented a weather program for all of the fourth grade students at Frog Pond School on Tuesday, December 21, 2023. He included current temperatures and weather, humidity levels, thunderstorms, hurricanes, snow storms, and tornadoes. Mr. Martucci included students in his presentation and answered many weather-related questions. The students stated that the presentation was exciting because he explained the weather in terms they understood. The students’ favorite part of the presentation covered tornadoes and hurricanes. It was a wonderful, weather-filled morning for all!
