Wayne's World
9/1/23
From Mr. Z and Ms. H
It has been another great week at Wayne School! September is here and we are gearing up for the fall! It is hard to believe that Labor Day weekend is already here! Please take some time to discuss with your kiddos the importance of and why we celebrate Labor Day as you enjoy this extra-long holiday weekend!
Labor Day celebrates the women and men who campaigned tirelessly for workers' rights in the labor movement of the late 19th century. Their hard-fought wins are the reason for many of the rights we enjoy and take for granted today, such as a 40-hour work week, safe work conditions, paid time off, and sick leave. Those workers saw that there could be no freedom and liberty in this country without economic freedom for the working class. The holiday honors the source of this nation's strength—American workers, unions, and labor leaders. No matter how you decide to celebrate Labor Day 2023, take some time to reflect and pay tribute to all the laborers, past and present, who helped build America and make it the country it is today.
Mr. Z and Ms. H
Please take some time to review the matrix expectations and the overall theme of respect at home. We are off to a great start and are looking forward to a respectful school year!

Student Code of Conduct
Dress Code
Students can choose clothing that makes them feel comfortable and safe, as long as it complies with the following guidelines:
1. Does not depict any violence, hatred, drugs, alcohol, gang affiliation, profanity, phobic language or cruelty of any kind
2. Covers all appropriate areas at all times. Appropriate areas include: stomach, chest and sides (both male and female) and butt/pelvic/upper thigh areas.
3. Items such as tank tops, sleeveless shirts, any type of shorts, coats, jackets, etc. are all allowed provided they adhere to #2 of this Section. (Low backs are not a problem)
Cell Phones/Smart Watches
In the past we have had students use their cell phones/SMART Watches during school hours (texting during class and texting and talking on the phone during lunch recess). According to district policy, this is not allowed. The students have been told that their phones MUST be turned off and out of sight upon arrival to school.
We appreciate your help in supporting this district policy. If your child does not need a cell phone at school, please have him/her leave it at home. If you feel they DO need a cell phone or SMART Watch at school, we will ask the students turn the cell phone off before arriving to school and place the cell phone or SMART Watch in their backpack for the duration of the school day.
Any child found with a cell phone or SMART Watch on his/her after the start of the school day will be referred to the office. We appreciate your help in this matter.
