Our April lesson will focus on responsibility. Please see below for what we will be doing by grade level.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am at Emerson on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and at Cortland on Tuesday and Thursday.

March/April Guidance Lessons
Responsibility
Kindergarten: We will begin the lesson by talking about responsibility. What responsibilities do we have at home and school? We will read a book “A Little Spot of Responsibility”. The students will follow up by making their own spot of responsibility.
1st Grade: We will begin the lesson by talking about responsibility. What responsibilities do we have at home and school? We will read the book But It’s Not My Fault. The book teaches us about taking responsibility for our actions. The students will follow up with an activity on ways they are responsible at home and school.
2nd Grade: We will begin the lesson by talking about responsibility. What responsibilities do we have at home and school? The students will do a pineapple activity on the 5 characteristics of responsibility. They will discuss how they can be responsible by the following: 1. Think it Through 2. Take care of your tasks and materials 3. Do your part 4. Follow through 5. Be honest!
3rd Grade: We will begin the lesson by talking about responsibility. What responsibilities do we have at home and school? The students will create their own responsibility flowers with things they are responsible for at home and school.
4th Grade: We will begin the lesson by talking about responsibility. What responsibilities do we have at home and school? The students will watch a short video called Stop Making Excuses. Following the video, they will work in teams to determine the top 5 responsible things to do in each scenario. They will earn points for the correct answers.
