Cheerleading
One final FNL for the 2023 season and it was a COLD one! Despite the chill, the cheerleaders keep the spirit up as they cheered the Warriors on in the first round of PIAA D1 5A playoffs. The team was excited as the Warriors rallied to come back, but unfortunately, the loss means the end of football season for this year. It has been a fun and exciting season cheering on the Warriors football team. A big thank you to the Wells family for hot chocolate and treats to keep the team cozy while cheering in the chilly weather this week!
Lastly, thank you to everyone who came out to support our biggest fundraiser of the year, Bag Bingo, this weekend! We saw teachers, football parents and even our sweet bus driver, among many others join in the fun on Saturday evening. We appreciate everyone's support so much! Go Warriors!
Boys Cross Country
Brock Yoder competed at the PIAA State Championship race on Saturday at Hersey Park and placed 20th in the race running 16:31 for 3.1 miles. Brock is the 2nd fastest freshman in the state ending the 2023 season.
Girls Cross Country
Sr Molly Thomas completed Her excellent Senior Year by racing at the State level in X-C at Hershey on Saturday, Nov 4th. She is the 7th runner in the school's history to compete at this event. The program has not had a State Qualifier since Sr Maddy Ziegler in 2019.
Congratulations to Molly for an Awesome Senior Year in X-C at Methacton!!
Field Hockey
This week, the Methacton field hockey team finished out their district play with two wins on their record. Wednesday the Warriors faced Great Valley in a rematch of last year's district quarterfinals, and brought home a dominant 6-2 win. Carmela Maro led the team with two goals, followed by seniors Lily DeWan and Giada Catoia who each had a goal and an assist.
Friday, the team hosted Avon Grove to decide 5th and 6th place in the district playoffs. The game ended with a 3-1 win, with all goals being scored and assisted by six different players. The Warriors ended district play placing 5th overall, matching their original ranking at the end of regular season play.
This week, the team enters into the PIAA State AAA tournament. For the second year in a row, they will face Emmaus High School in the first round. As this will be the third season in a row the team has seen Emmaus in the State tournament, they look forward to finding a win on Tuesday afternoon against the Hornets. Coming away with a win would mean a quarterfinal game on Saturday.
Upcoming Events:
Tuesday 11/7 - State Tournament Game vs. Emmaus (AWAY)
Football
The Methacton Football Team concluded the 2023 season with a hard fought game against Upper Dublin HS. The Warriors were on the wrong end of a 40-20 score. The game was not decided until late in the 4th Quarter as our Warriors made several big plays offensively and recovered an on-sides kick. With 6:13 left in the game the Warriors trailed the defending 5A District One champs 27-20. Unfortunately the UD Cardinals scored on their first play from scrimmage after receiving the kick. The Green and White were unable to recover from the big play and ended their season at Upper Dublin. Mia Pettine stepped in as our Punter for the game and kept the Cardinals in poor field position with several big punts. Seniors DJ Ballinger and Collin O’Neill led our team as captains for the season. Levi Borkowski, Anthony Perillo and a host of other seniors helped secure a 6-4 regular season record. Ben Grove stepped in and filled many roles - Offensively, Defensively and on Special Teams. Chad Cummings played well on both Offense and Defense. Our Senior Linemen - Nick Sorgini, Nico Lumbrano, Vinnie Iacavino, and Abel Robles all played a part in our 2023 success. Wesley Conover, Liam Chawaga, and Jared Hall-Sanford also contributed to our program and will be missed next season!
Girls Tennis
The tennis season officially wrapped up last week as senior Hana Nouaime made her way to Hershey to the state tournament for her last official match of her amazing high school career. Hana lost a tough match 2-6, 3-6 in the first round to a strong newcomer to the scene from Liberty High School. Hana finished her high school tennis career losing a total of only 6 matches in the regular season in 4 years and was a doubles state finalist and a 2 time doubles state champion. Hana will move on to play in college. Thanks and Congrats to Hana for an amazing high school career. You have made the Warriors proud!!
