The target date for Interim Test 1 is January 27. Tests should be given on the Wonders platform. Teachers should assign the test from the PCSD test bank. Provo City School District Board of Education, Administration and employee associations have made the decision to host an annual vendor fair. The purpose of our annual vendor fair is to provide a venue for vendors to connect with our employees without going into the schools. We have planned our annual vendor fair on January 25, 2023 from 2:30 to 4:30, and will take place at our Professional Development Center located at the District office (280 W 940 N Provo). Innovative Learning is inviting teachers to be a member of a K-12 digital citizenship curriculum evaluation committee. We are looking for at least two teachers and one parent to volunteer with students from each of the following grade level bands: K-2, 3-5, 7-8, and 9-12. The two teachers and parent will work as a team to view the curricula for their target age group. Learn more on the employee website.

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) and Utah State Board of Education (USBE) are partnering to provide math courses required for special education licensed teachers seeking a Special Education Mathematics Endorsement. Learn more on the employee website.

Distress and Interventions in Mathematics is a workshop series led by Amy Henderson (licensed clinical social worker) and Rachel Bachman (mathematics educator). The class will meet virtually beginning January 19. 1.0 USBE Credit Hours available upon successful completion of the course. Learn more on the employee website.

Mental health is important. Starting in 2023, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will feature Mental Health Minutes virtual sessions, four per week, on a drop-in basis. Learn more on the employee website.

“Finding Home” includes an interactive tour of Roots of Knowledge (storytelling, poetry, mindfulness exercises, games, etc) followed by an art making activity. The field trip program is rooted in Utah State Core Curriculum Standards and can currently accommodate up to 70 students at a time. We’ve been given a grant by the Larry H. Miller Foundation, so groups who come to participate in our pilot program will be reimbursed for all bus fees. Learn more on the employee website.

The Utah Legislature has allocated funding to the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) to use to incentivize educators across the state to achieve endorsements in the STEM subjects. The Ultimate Robot Competition challenges teams of students to create a robot from an Ultimate Robot Kit. Students are not meant to follow the plans exactly, but instead must modify (engineer) what they have to accomplish a task. Visit the employee website to learn more and sign up.

Showcase your student's creations this year at the district wide "This is Us" Creative Arts Gala, April 11 at Provo High. This is a chance to really highlight those special creations you see pass through your classroom. In light of the Amber Alert from Layton over winter break (read the news story), Innovative Learning is providing teachers with digital citizenship lessons to facilitate conversations about online gaming safety.
