Loma Ridge Report

Back to School Night (BTSN) is coming up on Thursday, September 1st. At Loma Ridge, we have what is known as a "flipped" BTSN. This means that we provide all of the content and relevant information to parents in advance of Thursday so that it can be reviewed at each parent's leisure. Loma teachers will be providing their presentations via email to you on Monday afternoon. Please take the opportunity to review all of the information prior to September 1st and visit your child's classroom on Thursday evening between 6:00-7:00 pm if you have questions for your child's teacher. It is not required that you attend if you feel the flipped content addressed all of your questions. As a reminder, BTSN is a parents only evening. Please do not bring your children.

As a reminder, students in grades 1-6 may not arrive on campus prior to 8:05 am. We do not have supervision until 15 minutes before the start of school. Once students arrive on campus, they should walk directly to their line and remain in line until their teachers pick them up and escort them to class. Please make sure your child knows that the play structures and sport courts are not to be used in the morning before school starts. Thank you for your support!

This year, I will be providing a resource of some form for parents each week in my Loma Ridge Report under this heading.

Each of our grade levels had the opportunity to attend an assembly this week for social emotional learning. Students were reminded about the zones of regulation language we can use to label how we are feeling and also watched a video that explained how emotions occur in the brain. I've linked our zones of regulations here and the video about the brain here. We encourage you to get acquainted with the language we use at school when discussing emotions and to consider using it at home.

We are so fortunate to have an amazing PTA to support our students and staff here at Loma Ridge. I encourage you to become a member by clicking here or by using the QR code in the flier below. We are hopeful that 100% of our Loma Ridge staff and families become members of our PTA!

Student Data Confirmation is now open for the 2022-2023 school year. Data Confirmation must be completed for each student. Please see the following instructions:

Step 1: Login to http://myiusd.org/

Step 2: Select Student

Step 3: In the Student Info Tab, please click on “Data Confirmation”. Please complete each of the tabs listed.

Please confirm that all information has been read and that you have completed the online data confirmation process. Parents will upload their Residency Affidavit and Health Conditions form directly into Aeries. Once complete, please click the Finish and Submit button. Follow any further instructions listed.

Please note: the system will not allow you to perform Final Data Confirmation until all the previous tabs have been complete.

OCTA Youth Ride Free Bus Pass has been Extended. New Passes Required.

Good news! The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has extended the program that allows youth aged 6 to 18 to ride OC buses for free to school, after-school activities, jobs and more.

The Youth Ride Free Pass program started in September 2021 and was extended by the OCTA Board of Directors. The current “blue” pass will expire on September 30, 2022. The new “orange” pass will be effective now through September 30, 2023.

To request a pass, please complete a Parental Request Form (available online here) and provide the completed form to April Ryan, who will provide your child with the free pass.
