Before we turn the page on 2020, we want to give a huge shout out to our elected 2020-2021 BCS PTA Executive Board.

We deeply appreciate and are thankful to our hard-working and dedicated parent volunteers who generously give of their time, talent, and passion to support the BCS community!

Please mark your calendars and join us for upcoming PTA meetings which are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

RAKISHA KEARNS-WHITE is a mom of two creative and beautiful teen girls, one who is in 10th grade at BCS. Rakisha shares that her daughters teach her as much as she teaches them. She is a lifelong Brooklynite and has been working for 15 years as a young adult librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library. Rakisha loves romance novels, bright eyeshadow, 1990s NY rap, making beaded bracelets, and BTS. She subsists mostly on raw almonds, Diet Coke and air.

BRIAM MOSER and his husband, Christophe Moser, have a 11th grade son at BCS. Briam has been active on PTA Executive Boards at 610 Henry since their son started at BNS in kindergarten, and stayed busy ever since. Briam works in advertising as producer at McCann Health.

KAREN BAGNINI is mom to Basie grade 10. She participates in the PTA Executive Board in service of BCS's mission and potential for creating a liberatory and emancipatory space for our children, and all stakeholders, to learn, heal, and become the best versions of ourselves. Karen is a product of the Brooklyn Public Schools of the 1970's and 1980's: PS 139, Ditmas Junior High School, and Midwood High School.

JENNIFER GARCIA has been a part of the 610 Henry community since 1996. Her son Johnny is a junior, and her older son Joaquín went to BCS. Jennifer teaches pre-k and is an IEP case manager at BNS. Her passion is finding projects for BNS " little ones" to do with our BCS teenagers. Jennifer is an anti-racist educator. She is a huge fan of the Village People!

TANYA KEEFE is a mom to Harry, an 8th grader. This is Tanya's 2nd year serving as treasurer on the PTA. She loves being part of the community at BCS. She sells real estate and helps people find new places to live. Tanya loves her dog Coleman who she adopted from Puerto Rico!

SHANNON LORRAINE is a mom to 7th grader Josephine Lorraine. She owns a branding and PR agency. Shannon is a huge animal lover as well as a retired drummer!

KIEVA WASHINGTON has been a part of the BCS community for 10 years. She is a parent of 4, all of whom have been students at 610 Henry Street. Kieva currently has a 9th grader at BCS and a child in Pre-K at BNS. Kieva has previously served as the BCS PTA president and has returned to support for the 2020-2021 school year.

SUSAN KIM JANSSEN is a mother to 6th grader Juliane and 9th grader Louis-Philippe. She is a partner in a design studio and spends most days on her laptop looking at cool images. Susan looks forward to assisting the BCS community and being an asset.

ZAC MARTIN is a husband of 20 years to Mel, father to two sweet girls, an 8th grader and 5th grade. He is a pastor, a youth and community organizer and an activist. Zac was born on a leap year, making him only 11-years old! He champions self-care and checking in with others.

GREGG MITCHELL is the father of 6th grader Mitchell. Greg is super happy that his family is part of the BCS community!

VENUS DENNISON-MURRAY has been an actively involved BCS parent for 7 years. She has two daughters. Sophia is in the 11th grade and Ella recently promoted from our middle school. Venus loves assisting our incoming parents and students with transitioning to a supportive BCS community of teachers and administrators and to helping them finds ways to get involved.

SARA ROTHSTEIN has a daughter in the 6th grade and they are grateful to be part of the BCS community!
