We are contacting you today to keep you updated, and aware of the work being done to further the lives of North View Middle School students. This update contains information about our school goals for instruction and achievement, activities used to support our goals, and our progress toward meeting them. The month of October was a busy one. There were field trips, a mini-world cup, and celebrations of Hispanic Heritage. We have included a few highlights below in case you missed them.

North View Middle School's picture day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9th. Flyers for orders will be sent home with your student the week of October 31st. You can also visit: mylifetouch.com and use the picture day ID: EVTQQGS76 to order the perfect package for you and your family.

A food drive hosted by our AVID students will begin on November 28th and run until December 14th. This grade-level competition will conclude on December 14th. The grade level with the most donations will win a treat during advisory. Please consider supporting our students during this time. All donations will be given to the food shelf programs CEAP supports. CEAP is a community-based, non-profit agency dedicated to providing information, referrals, advocacy, and assistance to our neighbors.

Building a Better Future: Make a plan to vote!

In about two weeks, our Osseo Area Schools community will determine the long-term direction of school safety, learning, and technology. Make a plan to vote:

• Option 1: Vote early by mail or in person. If you choose in person, Brooklyn Park City Hall and the Maple Grove Government Center are welcoming voters. Visit the “How Do I Vote” section of the Building a Better Future website for more on locations and hours.

• Option 2: Vote on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Find your voting location by entering your address at MNVotes.org.

Get informed! Remember:

• Question 1 focuses on learning: Continue day-to-day learning operations and enhance individualized learning, academic interventions, scholar mental health needs, and other critical classroom supports.

• Question 2 focuses on technology: Continue classroom learning technology, infrastructure systems, and support staff. Additionally prioritize school safety and security, tools for all scholars, and digital learning spaces.

So what happens if the referendum fails? Without referendum funding, $5 million would need to be cut in 2023-24 and then $49 million (450 staff members cut) in 2024-25. Results: insufficient safety/security, increased class sizes, and diminished academic support to name a few.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Will students be required to wear face coverings at school?
  Osseo Area Schools will encourage but do not require quarantines and/or mask wearing for all staff, students, and visitors.

• Can I come in and visit my student's classroom?
  Yes. Following the appropriate protocol, visitors are allowed into our building.
  
  

• Will breakfast and lunches continue to be free this year?
  No, school meals will not continue to be provided free of charge to all students this year. It is extremely important to fill out the free/reduced meal application if you would like to continue to receive discounted services, like school activities and home internet service (upon qualification).

• Where do I find the school supply list?
  Please click here for this year's school supply list.

• When does the school open?
  The school building will be open for students to enter each day at 7:50 am. Please do not drop off students before this time if possible.

• Who should I contact with questions?
  If you have general questions, please call the school at 763-585-7200.
  
  
• When is picture day?
  Picture day is November 9th and the retake day will be December 8th.
  
  

• I need support with Internet Resources.
  Resources are available to support families that do not have access to the internet in their homes can be found here. Internet support and resources may also be provided to families as necessary by the district.

Name one teacher that went to Normandale Community College. The first five students to respond correctly to this question, by submitting an answer here, will receive five Knight Pride Tickets.

Many sports are available for seventh and eighth-graders.

Immunization Forms: According to MN state law, all students must be in compliance with state immunization requirements, be in the process of receiving the immunization series or meet exemption criteria. Students who are not in compliance with state immunization requirements will be excluded from school.

Health Emergency Contact Form: Students under 18 years of age will not be released from school if ill or injured unless authorized by a legal parent/guardian or another adult designated by a parent/guardian. Please update emergency information annually and as changes occur. Emergency Contact information can be changed in ParentVue.

Monthly Newsletter

At the beginning of each month, North View Middle School will send you the "News from the View" Family Newsletter. These newsletters are organized in a fashion that the most critical information is at the top and as you scroll down the newsletter the information becomes more oriented toward the future. This is your “one-stop-shop” to stay informed about the happenings of our school community.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Another way to receive personalized information and be engaged in conversations related to the North View Middle School community is to attend parent-teacher conferences each trimester. Not only will you be able to meet your child's teacher, but there will also be opportunities to provide us with feedback about your needs. North View Middle School is a dynamic community; if you want to be involved and don’t know how, please ask. The NVMS website is a place to go to pull static information and facts about North View Middle School that could be important for a family at any point of the year.
