Craddock's Weekly Update
For the Week of January 23, 2023
Thank you Aurora Board of Education! You are appreciated every single day as we learn and grow at Craddock!
Mrs. Menta's Message
Happy snowy Sunday Craddock families!
Finally...some January-like weather! It is been like soggy spring these last few weeks, so the white snow falling this morning was a welcome sight! Make sure your child is prepared to go play outside on snowy days with all the important gear! As you can see below, it doesn't take much snow for them to get excited and want to build a snowman!
Thank you to all of our families for continuing to utilize our transportation request form. It has completely streamlined the organization and communication portions of our dismissal. Taking a few minutes to fill out the link for us does wonders to ensure all of our students get where they need to be safely at the end of each day! Thank you!
January is Board Appreciation Month and I wanted to take this opportunity to let our Board know just how appreciated they are each and every day! They are closely connected with the schools and work hard to partner with all of us to support the continual growth of all our students, as well as staff! We couldn't ask for a better group of people to represent Aurora City Schools. Some of our 1st and 2nd graders created a message for these 5 very special people. Check out the link below to see what we will be presenting them at the Board meeting tomorrow evening. The kids stole the show!
Have a wonderful Sunday! We are resting up and already getting excited to welcome our adorable 1st and 2nd grade friends tomorrow. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Take care,
Kim Menta

News from Mrs. Ambrosia, Craddock's School Counselor
Greetings Families! Over the course of the year, I meet with students in small groups. These groups include students in first and second grades and can include as few as two students or as many as six. Beginning in January, I am starting a new group to focus on Changing Families. Students that may benefit from this group may have a change in their family including separation, divorce, or death of an immediate family member. This group will meet once weekly for twenty to twenty-five minutes for six to eight weeks. Group activities will focus on meeting peers in a similar situation, identifying the change, learning about adult v. kid responsibilities, naming adults that are their support system, reaffirming their identities, and problem-solving scenarios with the group members. If you think your child would benefit from this group, please reach out to me at lambrosia@aurora-schools.org or 330.562.3175 ext. 1260.
A resource of interest is this awesome site shared with me by our Director of Special Services, Mike Maglionico: https://www.onoursleeves.org/
This site is a simple way to gather community resources, contacts, talking points and activities to benefit your family’s well-being and mental health over the holidays. I found the How-To articles super helpful because as a counselor and a parent, I know how I want my students and children to think of themselves, but am often refining the process in which I use to correct their thinking in a more positive way. I hope you find this resource helpful!
