OCTOBER HUSKIE HOWL
Note from the Principal
As I drove my daughter to the airport to catch her flight back to college our conversation warmed my heart and reminded me of the invaluable community we are a part of here in Emmett. She expressed how much she misses this town and our family. She spoke on the remarkable fortune of growing up in a place where everyone knows her and genuinely cares for her well-being. Her reflections touched upon the sense of security she felt within our community and the incredible learning opportunities it has provided her.
In our conversation, I witnessed her realization - that Emmett is truly a unique and extraordinary place to call home. What was once perceived as prying eyes from teachers and fellow community members has transformed into cherished memories of individuals who always had her best interests at heart, guiding and supporting her when her parents couldn't be there.
Reflecting on the past month's accomplishments at Shadow Butte, it is evident that much of the effort centered around establishing the bedrock of community support. While education remains our primary mission, it is crucial to recognize that true learning flourishes when built upon strong relationships and a sense of security. Our dedicated teachers have tirelessly worked to refine their classroom systems, streamlining the learning process for our students, making it both more effective and efficient. Moreover, they have made a concerted effort to bridge the gap between school and home, creating connections with families and instilling a sense of accountability and partnership.
Emmett, without a doubt, holds a unique place in our hearts as a special place for raising children. Our schools offer a unique rural experience for our students, where they can learn and grow in an environment unlike any other. This distinctive blend of community support and educational opportunity is something truly special, and it's all thanks to the unwavering dedication and commitment of our staff and families.
The outcomes and success of learning in schools are exceedingly larger when both school and families partner to support the growth of the child. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your contributions in creating this exceptional experience for our students. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and together, we continue to nurture a bright future for the children of Emmett.

Happy, Healthy Kids Tip
When your child is experiencing BIG, upset feelings, their brain cannot listen or learn in that moment. Rather than negotiating with or punishing them, help the child name their feelings. Then, practice a coping skill.
Coping Skill Ideas:
Deep breaths
Counting to 10
Going for a walk
Naming 5 things you can see, 4 things you can feel, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste.

Call the School Office to be signed up and your will receive your User Name and Password to get started then you can download and use the mobile app.
Parent Pick Up Procedure
When pulling up in the pick up line DO NOT exit the car, if your student needs extra help, park in the lot closest to the school. This is safest method for all students and keeps the traffic flowing and from gathering on Idaho Blvd.
We ask that parents not park in the staff parking that is located on the corner of Idaho and Mesa so students and parents are not crossing traffic and in between moving cars.
Thanks again for helping us keep our students safe!
