Getting to Know Our Familes
District 25's mission is to empower an inclusive, diverse community of learners to innovate and thrive as global citizens. At OMS, we would like to know more about our community and how we can best support and celebrate our students. One way to do this is to learn more about our families. Please complete this short survey to share information with us. It is completely optional and no names or email addresses are required.
Two ways in which we hope to use this information:
We are interested in hanging or displaying country flags that represent our students and families.
We would like to celebrate important days and holidays with our students whether it be in person or on morning announcements.
D25 Celebrate with Us
In the most recent District 25 Dish the following information was shared in the "Celebrate with Us" section.
Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month is a month to celebrate the rich heritage of Hispanic Americans and the many contributions they have made to American culture. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 through October 15th!

Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. Days of Renewed Responsibility and the first of the High Holy Days. The traditional greeting during Rosh Hashanah is the phrase “Shanah tovah,” which translates to “Good year.” Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset, September 25 and ends at sunset, September 27. (Date changes year to year)
Science Club is Back!
Science Club is back with more hands-on science adventures for students in grades two through five. We’re offering two sessions, meeting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, October 4 through November 16. We meet from 3:35 until 4:45 PM in the LMC.
Session 1: Wheels and More (three or four weeks)
Explore the relationship between potential and kinetic energy, and utilize your design skills to build and test wheeled vehicles.
Session 2: Flight (two or three weeks)
Experiment with a variety of folded paper glider designs, then conclude our fall activities with the ever-popular parachute challenge.
No School Days note: We’ll build a solar powered device on Tuesday, October 4th and Wednesday, November 9 so neither group will miss out when there’s no school on Wednesday, October 5, and Tuesday, November 8.
Want to join in the fun? Complete and return the registration form as soon as possible. Sessions can fill up very quickly. The number of students per session is dependent on the number of adult volunteers.
To ensure that we are able to provide a safe and enjoyable activity at least two adults will be present each day. Any days that do not have at least one adult volunteer will be cancelled. Please consider signing up to help on one or more days as your schedule allows.
*First grade students may only participate if: 1. an older OMS sibling(s) is enrolled in Science Club AND 2. a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle can volunteer to help every day the first grade student attends.
