Best Book Fair Ever
Thank you to all the families who invested in their child's love of reading. We used some of the profit to keep books from the book fair to use in the library. The rest of the profits will allow teachers to choose Scholastic books for their classrooms and the librarian to buy books from other vendors to grow our library collection.
The Masked Reader Family Involvement Night was a hit!
Our student sleuths figured out who was behind almost every mask, but they were stumped by a few! After the reveal, our K-2 students completed a writing activity penning a letter to Santa and are now eagerly awaiting the personalized letter they’re going to soon receive. Our 3-5 students completed a winter STEM activity by constructing and testing a marshmallow launcher - a fun (but sticky) job! All families had a chance to visit the Book Fair before and after the activities, too. Thanks to all the families who attended and all the teachers who made it a success. Love to be a Hurricane!
Reading Fun
Ms. Livingston's class enjoyed the novel "Charlotte's Web” and celebrated the completion of their unit with some special decorations and snacks.
Food Drive
Just before Thanksgiving, the HME K-Kids led a canned food drive which resulted in 2,016 canned goods for Hale Community Ministries! Thanks to the families who donated canned goods and thanks to the K-Kids for completing this community service project.

Learning About Clouds
Third grade has been busy learning about the water cycle and clouds. It has been a lot of fun learning all about weather and climate.
WSE Book Fair Success
If you needed a reason to love the Book Fair, it’s because we don’t let a child leave with a frown. Kids helping each other shop, count, or even make the hard decisions will brighten your day. The volunteers and teachers enjoy it just as much, while making it a magical time. Thank you very much for helping us surpass our goal! The sales came so close to $10,000 before tax. On top of that, no child was left without a book of their choice! Our teachers and library made almost $5,000 in Scholastic dollars that will be used for books, furniture, software and more!
It was a wonderful Festivus for the West of us!
