BEAM Update

Dear Fitzgerald Elementary Community,

Welcome to the new school year at Fitzgerald Elementary! I am incredibly proud and honored to return as your principal once again. Together, we will embark on a journey of connection, experience, and growth, creating an enriching environment for all our students.

I would like to take a moment to emphasize the importance of regular attendance. Attending school every day is crucial for your child's success. I kindly request that you ensure your child is present at school every day, as vacations and appointments should be planned around the school day and holidays. Our goal is for your child to have fewer than 18 absences for the entire year or less than 4 absences per quarter. Remember, chronic absences can have a significant impact on a child's social and academic performance. To celebrate and encourage attendance, we plan to recognize our students with perfect attendance throughout the year.

I would also like to extend an invitation to our upcoming events. Please join us on Wednesday, August 16th, for our back-to-school webinar. This webinar will provide essential information to help you and your child prepare for the first day of school. Additionally, we invite you to attend our "Meet the Teacher" night on Thursday, August 17th, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Due to limited parking, overflow parking will be available at the Ferlazzo Building located at 15941 Donald Curtis Dr., Woodbridge, VA 22191. Transportation from the parking location will be provided.. A bus will be provided to transport you and your child to and from the school.

Fitzgerald Elementary School is looking for a School Security Assistant. This is a 188-day position where you will be able to work with our students every day and make a difference. The calendar for the entire school year can be found here on the Division's website. Please coordinate any vacations and/or appointments around the school calendar.

The deadline to meet to meet the immunization requirements for the upcoming school year is August 17, 2023. Parents/guardians may view information about student compliance with required immunizations in ParentVUE. If you do not have a ParentVUE account, please contact the school to assist you with setting up an account or if you have specific questions about non-compliant immunizations, reach out to the school. You can visit the Division website for more information.

Immunization appointments may be scheduled with your health care provider, Prince William Health District, Mason and Partners, urgent care, or local pharmacy for your child to receive the missing immunization(s). Appointments are currently available at all locations.

If a student fails to comply with providing the completed proof of the required immunization(s) by August 17, 2023, the student will be excluded from starting/attending school on August 21, 2023, and will remain excluded until the required immunization record(s) have been provided to the school.

The paperwork on this required immunization(s) is due by August 17, 2023.
