Dear Parents and Carers,
This week I am starting with good news. First, after lots of investigation, Openreach were finally able to fix the problem and we have had the internet restored to school. We are very relieved and it will be a while before we take the internet for granted again!
Second, we received the news this week that the school has earned the Christian Aid Global Neighbours Bronze Award. 'From developing the peace garden, to collecting old clothes for recycling and supporting the local foodbank pupils and staff at Kirk Fenton have been working hard to take their place as global citizens.
We are very proud to have achieved this award and of all our children who have contributed across all of our classes. Well done!
As part of our ongoing commitment to global citizenship we have taken the decision to use next week's Comic Relief Day (18th March) to support the people of Ukraine and therefore we are asking the children to come to school on Friday wearing blue and yellow. They can either bring a donation that will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee fund or alternatively nappies, toiletries or first aid supplies are being collected locally and we can pass these items on.
Finally, some notices this week:
- Please ask your children not to cut across the grass in front of the car park as they enter and leave school each day as it is damaging the grass. They should also not be cutting between the cars to take a short cut.
- Once you have collected your child/ren after school please leave the site rather than allowing children to play on the equipment. We cannot be responsible for your children once you have collected them and teachers in the EYFS need to be able to tidy and set up in their outdoors area as soon as the children have left. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Times Tables Rock Stars
This week saw the start of our Easter TTrockstars/Numbots league. It'll last until Easter, and the class with the highest percentage of children on each week will gain 8 points. The team in second will get 7 points, and so on... This week Tigers came top, so they sit top of the league with 8 points. Bees are in second place and Earthworms 3rd. The team who wins next week will add to their classes score. I look forward to seeing who will be at the top next week! The children who earned a certificate this week were: Grace in Jaguars, Jacob in Earthworms, Oliver G in Sharks, and Georgia in Tigers. Well done to all of you!

Staff Thank You's
If anyone would like to say thank you to or has any positive comments for a member of staff then please complete and submit the form below.
Hopefully everyone enjoyed World Book Day, the costumes and book in a box creations looked brilliant! Thanks to all those who took part in the Readathon and have taken the sponsorship forms and money into school. We will tally up the totals and let you know next week how much was raised. If anyone has any more fund raising to drop in please could you do so early next week.
There will be the Bags 2 school collection on Friday 18 March and everyone should have received a flyer, detailing what is accepted, in their book bags. Please only bring in your bags on the morning drop-off Friday 18th (we’ll be collecting them by the hall) as they cannot be stored at school prior to the day. If you have any issues delivering your bags to school that day please contact Friends directly and we may be able to assist and collect beforehand. Remember the more weight of clothes collected, the more we raise. We appreciate that some of you may have donated clothing to Ukraine appeals recently, but any bags of clothing you can provide will be gratefully received.
We’ve also been working on our fantastic quiz rounds ready for our curry and quiz night - watch this space for more details.
Next week we will also share more details of our proposed Jubilee memorabilia.
Thanks from all at Friends of Kirk Fenton
