BES Student Council
Hello Families,
We are pleased to share that the BES Student Council will be getting started in November. Student Council is a leadership opportunity for students. The school counselors will share all of the necessary information with all 3rd-5th grade classrooms.
Linked here are the role descriptions and general eligibility requirements.
Officer positions require an application that is available in your child’s Google Classroom. Classroom representative positions will be an in-class vote and does not require an application.
If your child has further questions, please encourage them to connect with their teachers or Ms. Wooten and Ms. Bowser.
Dates and Deadlines
All applications for officer position must be submitted by November 3rd.
Students may "campaign" or bring in posters the week of November 6th-10th.
Voting will occur on November 14th.
Meetings will occur on the third Friday of the month from 8:45-9:15 am.
BES Student Council General Requirements
In order to run for a position or be nominated as a class representative, the student:
May not have any behavior referrals for the school year
Must have good attendance
Must maintain 3s in work habits and behavior as indicated on report cards
Students are expected to attend meetings or let a staff sponsor (Wooten, Bowser, Kimball) know if they cannot attend a meeting ahead of time.

Fundraiser Challenge Kickoff: October 10
Funding from Wake County and the State doesn’t cover all of Briarcliff’s needs. That’s where the PTA helps and you can, too! To continue funding all the great events and activities at Briarcliff, we need to raise $15,000 by December 1.
If we all pitch in, everybody wins! Plus, the more you contribute, the more chances you have to win one of our fabulous prizes: gift cards from Food Lion, Target, Amazon, and VISA. If you contribute $250+, you could win a Cut-the-Line Carpool spot until the end of the school year! And, if we hit our $15K goal, the entire school will get a pizza and ice cream party with Beau the Bulldog!
Fundraiser details and pledge forms went home in this week’s Tuesday folders. You can also contribute on our website!
Community Partnerships
We love to support businesses that share our passion for enriching the lives of those in our community! If this sounds like a local business you love, please share our new Community Partnership opportunities with them.

Make a plan! Wish lists came home with your students this week. They can buy with cash, check (to Briarcliff Elementary PTA), credit, or gift card during their classes’ shopping time – or you can visit us during Monday or Friday family shopping times, or buy online.
Gift cards make checkout easier for your student, and they make great teacher gifts! Check out the gift card guide for parents, and buy them online at efairs.literati.com. Don’t forget to include money for 7.25% tax!
Teacher wish lists are available in the Media Center, and some have digital wish lists available. They also love gift cards!
Volunteers get a 20% discount at the fair. Our greatest needs are mornings and Friday during Fall Fest. Sign up for a timeslot!
Shop our online store! Purchases will arrive post-fair, and there is free shipping to your classroom teacher. Online orders help the school just as much as in-person ones.
Fall Fest is coming on Friday, October 20, from 5-7:30pm!
We need your help! Critical volunteer positions are still available. Can you pitch in? Sign up now!
Admission: $5 per family. Buy tickets in advance online until 10/20 at 2pm, or pay $5 cash only at the door.
Raffle: Want a Carpool Fast Pass or to be Principal for the Day? Buy your raffle tickets online until Thursday 10/19 @ 11:45pm, or cash only at the event.
Pumpkin Contest: Drop off your carved or painted pumpkin creations for the contest in the main hallway before school on Thursday 10/19 and Friday 10/20.
Thank you for your support… And remember, it’s never too late to get involved with the PTA!
