Preschool and Kindergarten Registration
2020-21 Preschool Application/Registration
Due to the COVID19 issue, we were unable to hold our annual Preschool Application process on-site this year . Application forms have been mailed out to parents who have called to register their child this past week. If you did not receive the application through the postal service, please e-mail Mrs. Balk, sbalk@claytonridge.k12.ia.us. We would like all applications to be returned no later than May 15th.
Kindergarten Registration
As most of you know we were unable to hold our Kindergarten Registration processes last month due to our current circumstances. Parents of prospective kindergarten students for the 2020-21 school year can expect a packet of information and forms to be sent out the week of April 27. Please take the time to review the information and return the necessary paperwork. We ask that this paperwork be completed and returned by May 15. If you know of someone who has an upcoming kindergarten student that did not receive a packet, please have them e-mail Mrs. Balk, sbalk@claytonridge.k12.ia.us. If you do not receive a packet please do not hesitate to e-mail or call the school and leave a message.

River Park Cruise for Seniors
Celebrate our senior class by cruising River Park Drive & checking out the senior photos. Please leave the signs until further notice. More plans are in the works. Feel free to add balloons or your special touch by your signs. We would like to thank Fidelity Bank for making this possible. We appreciate it so much!

Optional Activities for Enrichment
Hello CR parents and families!
As students are currently taking a break from the classroom we would like to make you aware of the many free online resources (such as ebooks, activities and more) that are available to your student, should you choose to use them at home. This list is purely OPTIONAL, but your student is probably familiar with many of them from prior use at school. Many of these websites are fun, interactive and provide feedback to guide the learning process.
Access all of these resources with this link: https://tinyurl.com/CRresources20
Note* the Keystone Online Resources are purchased by Keystone AEA 1 and provided to students and schools in the AEA1 area at no cost.

Earth Day Celebrations
Do you know what every human being has in common? The Earth! Happy Earth Day 2020!!!
Clayton Ridge teachers challenged CR students with an optional Earth Day project. The challenge included researching Earth Day and then completing a project or activity celebrating the earth with your family. Students were encouraged to document the activity with a photo or video and send it to their teacher to be posted and shared on CR Facebook.
We posted a few of the submissions yesterday, here are lots more! We'll continue to add to the post as submissions are received. Way to celebrate Earth Day Clayton Ridge! We are so proud of you!
Digital Learning and Iowa History
Mrs. Mackey's social studies classes have been exploring Iowa history the past three weeks using online learning, and 7th grader Zean Pik found this unbelievable picture! The caption reads: "A tornado producing high winds turns a large barn on its side in 1931. Iowa ranks sixth in the United States for tornado frequency." Here is the website in case you would like to explore more Iowa history pictures: http://www.iowapbs.org/iowapathways/artifacts

3rd and 4th Grade Virtual Field Trip to Iowa Dairy Center
The Clayton Ridge third grade classes usually go to the Iowa Dairy Center in Calmar for an end of the year trip. Since they were not able to attend this year in person, they were invited to a virtual field trip on April 24. Fourth graders enjoyed the trip so much last year, that they were also invited. Many 3rd and 4th grade students “attended” online today. #EaglesLearning #EaglePride #UdderlyAwesome
Comments from students:
"Natalie and I liked watching how the sprayer worked to clean the cows before they are milked. We laughed when it sprayed Mariah."
"Tate said: 'Love seeing those cows, but wish we could see them for real!'"
