TEACHERS OF THE YEAR 2022
TEACHERS OF THE YEAR 2022
Melissa Bates – Preschool
Melissa has been a devoted member of the Preschool staff for the last four years. She always interacts with students in a loving, kind and a respectful way. She invests time into forming positive relationships with her students and their families. Melissa is dedicated to enriching the lives of her students and will take every measure to accomplish this goal. She is always willing to support her colleagues and assist wherever needed. In her short time here, she has proven to be an asset to the preschool family. We are very fortunate to have her as a part of our team.
Nasima Tukhi – School 4
Nasima Tukhi’s parents immigrated to America when the Soviet Union attacked Afghanistan. Her parents instilled in her to always work hard for what she wanted and to be kind to others. Their struggles pushed her to always do her best.
She graduated from Penn State University in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in Multicultural Settings. After graduating, she moved to NJ where she substituted for a few years in various schools.
In 2015, she had her son. A few months later, she was hired as a long-term substitute teacher at Lindenwold School 4. After a year of serving as a substitute, Nasima realized School 4 was the type of environment she would love to serve in. Nasima has taught at School 4 for seven years. She has been able to serve as a second-grade teacher, first grade teacher, and currently as the technology teacher.
Christina Curry – School 5
Ms. Curry is a graduate of Cabrini University in Radnor PA, where she majored in Elementary Education in 2008. Lindenwold Schools have had a large part of her journey to become an educator. As a college student, Ms. Curry would come home weekly and volunteer when her mom was a Kindergarten Teacher at School 5. Working with her mom and fellow teachers at School 5, she knew this was where she was destined to be.
In 2009, Ms. Curry was hired as a First Grade Teacher at School 4. She was a First Grade Teacher until 2013 and then moved to Kindergarten. In 2016, Ms. Curry moved into Basic Skills at School 5. Through this role, she has been able to enjoy two of her favorite subjects: Reading and Writing. As the First Grade Basic Skills Teacher, she is able to share her love of these two subjects with her students and co-workers.
Throughout her years, Lindenwold has become a second home. She has worked with such amazing teachers, administration and support staff. She is also lucky enough to work in the same building as my brother. So as one could say “Lindenwold runs in her family’s blood.” She has so blessed for the years she has had in Lindenwold and she looks forward to the years ahead.
Ryan Strothers – Lindenwold Middle School
"Be the change you wish to see in the world". These are the words that Ryan Strothers lives by everyday. Ryan Strothers attended and graduated from Pennsauken High School and Grand Canyon University. While in high school, Ryan thought that he might want to become a teacher. However, it wasn't until one of his teachers challenged his work ethic that he became certain. Ryan's teacher "called him out" for cruising through general course work when he knew that Ryan was capable of so much more. While the words of his teacher stung, it was just the motivation he needed to make some changes in his life.
From that day forward, Ryan wanted to make a similar impact in the lives of children. Ryan first came to the Lindenwold Middle School as a substitute and replacement teacher during the 2016-2017 school year. That following September he officially joined the staff as a fifth grade teacher. It is in this position that Ryan strives to challenge his students to think outside the box while encouraging them to reach for the stars. In 2018, he spearheaded The Lion's Den Student Mentoring Program with the mission "to guide LMS Lions towards a brighter future by building healthy and long-lasting relationships with a positive adult influence". The mentoring program continues to grow more and more with each passing year.
Jeffrey Flood-Orion – Lindenwold High School
Mr. Jeffrey Flood-Orion is a graduate of Rowan University with a BA in Theatre Performance and a MA in Theatre Ed. Jeff has been a Lindenwold Lion 2011 when he did his student teaching and started full time in 2014 when Mrs. Triplo retired. Mr. Flood-Orion is truly grateful for the opportunity to work and "play" in a district that supports Theatre in our school and community. He is also the Program Director for the Southern New Jersey Cappies and in his free time works at Two Sweet Boutique Bakery.
