School District Strategic Planning Update
We updated you on our action teams and their work during our last newsletter.
Since our last newsletter, the CORE Committee (previously developed) five areas of focus (Mental Health, Special Education, Culture, Vertical Alignment, and Student Opportunities) through a review of survey and interview data gathered through an independent process (through OCM BOCES). We are currently in the action team phase of the Strategic Planning process. Action Teams were created to create recommendations for 2-3 Priority Areas and the action steps to achieve success in those areas. Our action team facilitators will report back to the CORE Committee, where they currently are in the process, and continue working towards a report to the CORE Committee and the Board of Education regarding a Strategic Plan which will guide our push for continual improvement beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, and running through the 2025-2026 school year.
Please check your email or email Kevin Linck at klinck@caz.cnyric.org for more information.
Capital Project and Infrastructure Updates
The State Education Department officially approved the Phase 2 Capital Project to improve Buckley-Volo Stadium and our Upper Field at Emory Avenue. The estimated timeline for construction is to begin this Spring and end in the Fall of 2024. Much of this is subject to the weather cooperating.
At our board meetings, we have been discussing the need to upgrade our infrastructure to meet the need requirements for electric buses. Even before the new law requiring schools to move to all-electric by 2035 (with purchases beginning in 2027), the district has been exploring the need for a new bus garage since 2015.
As a reminder, all Board of Education committee meetings are open to the public, and we want you there. We have gotten excellent input when the public has attended committee meetings. Please continue to monitor our website for meeting dates and times.
Our Next Community Cafe
Our Board of Education also aims to expand upon listening sessions, so keep an eye out for future opportunities and our next Community Cafe.
