Week in Review
Welcome to November and week 10 of the school year. Our week kicked off with one of the biggest Trunk or Treat events in recent memory. Twenty-two members of the Fletcher community hosted a trunk. Our local fire and police departments also brought an engine and two police cruisers to join in the fun. If you missed out this year, we're definitely bringing it back next year. HUGE shout-out to PTA board member Ashleigh Ledoux for heading the team who put together this wonderful event for our community. Next week marks the end of the first trimester which means fall conferences and progress notices will be available soon. We've included links below with instructions for how to set up a PowerSchool Parent Portal account to be able to view your student's progress prior to their conference.
Trimester 1 Report Cards
Can you believe the end of the Trimester is next week? November 10th marks the end of our first grading period for students. Hard copies of report cards will be sent home during student conference week, but you can take a look online ahead of time starting November 11th. SASEA Hub Now Operational
Interested in learning more about the spread of COVID in the community? Our partners at UCSD have developed a powerful tool called SASEA (Safer At School Early Alert) for monitoring COVID spread in our neighborhood by analyzing samples in wastewater. This can help us identify hot spots for viral spread sooner so families have the information to make the best decision for themselves. Here's everything available on the site:

Staying Healthy
You may have seen in the news that Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) have been on the rise lately in schools across San Diego County. This week at Fletcher, we had an above average number of students go home ill. At this point we don't have information indicating that these illnesses are COVID related, thankfully. However, it is always wise to review important suggestions for staying healthy with your students. Please see the flyer attached below. In two weeks, on October 28th we will also be hosting a Flu/COVID vaccination clinic on campus after school. Flu vaccinations, Monkeypox, and bivalent COVID booster vaccinations will all be available for free on a walk-in basis. If you need a COVID test, we have them available at the front office for free.
Our Student of the Week for is Spencer in Mrs. Sperry's 4th/5th Grade Class. Spencer is a star student and is leaning into his learning by practicing his music skills at recess. During class, Spencer has started leading his own small math group. He is a good friend, awesome student, and now a great leader. Way to go, Spencer! Thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!
Sign Up for Weekly COVID Testing on Campus
Weekly voluntary COVID screenings resumed this week and will continue to take place weekly on Monday mornings. The more students we have signed up for the screenings, the sooner we can identify symptomatic and asymptomatic cases to reduce community spread.
