One of the benefits of Vanguard membership is being a part of our district license for Nearpod. This is an exclusive benefit offered only to Vanguard members and METIs. As a district user, you have unlimited access to over 7,000 ready-to-run Nearpod lessons. Teach the lessons as is, or edit them to meet your needs. In addition to the Nearpod Library, you also have access to all of Nearpod's premium lesson features. Use Nearpod to extend learning beyond your class period via student-paced mode. Are you a one person welcome wagon? Do you love welcoming new people and showing them the ropes? If so, we want you to join the New Member Committee! We are seeking one Vanguard member in each learning community to participate on the new member committee. As a member of the team, you will earn Activity XP, while shepherding a small group of new members through their on-boarding experience. You will be there to answer questions and monitor their progress in the new member course.

Early Bird Stipend is due 11/15/2019: 40 total XP with at least 20XP coming from either mentoring category. The XP Committee will be reviewing submissions on November 1st and reaching out to Vanguardians who are close to the XP total and may just need a little push/reminder to get over the first hump!

"OTHER MENTORING" XP

We've heard your concerns about needing clarity on what exactly other mentoring XP could look like. Your peers have contributed to a Padlet (https://padlet.com/billingsleac/nvwnhprkr5cf) that details some examples of what other mentoring and the rest of the TIMS pillars look like for them. Please feel free to not only view the padlet, but also add to it!

Denecia Driskell is the kind of teacher you wish you could have. Her natural enthusiasm is contagious and her spirit is magnetic. Having her as a fellow Vanguard Team Member at Oakley ES has been a delight. I have watched Ms. Driskell grow sooo much in just a few short years. She started off on our Vanchise Team and served diligently and with a year under her belt being a full member she is definitely going places. Ms. Driskell's drive to do what she can to help her students succeed in the classroom is commendable. She is very tech-savvy and ever ready to try new tech tools with her students and engage them in a variety of ways. Her willingness to find innovative ways to transform learning is exactly what we need to continue to fulfill our Vanguard Mission. KUDOS Ms. Driskell, keep being GREAT!
