Park Family,


I hope everyone braved the winter weather and did not have any major damage.


There are two major areas of concern that we MUST address immediately:


- Safety


  • We had the State Safety Audit this week and we must improve. We had roughly 25+ interior classroom doors that were not locked.
  • We also must be on active supervision duty at our doors beginning at 7:10 AM and continue throughout the school day.



- Attendance


  • From the Fall 2023 Teacher Attendance Data we have had 51 Teachers miss 6 or more days excluding UIL and FMLA.



Safety and Attendance are critical to our success as a school. Please reflect and make any necessary adjustments.

Celebrations

We are excited to share highlights from this December’s round of EOC re-testing. Overall, we saw a 46% increase in Approaches, 57% increase in Meets, 24% reduction in Did Not Meet (DNM), and a 149% increase in Masters. This is the BEST attendance and performance in CyPark history for December!


We shared scores this week with teams and students, and there were many cheers and celebration!


We would like to thank the EOC teams (Biology, Algebra, English 1, English 2, US History) many of whom worked with our re-testers during CommUnity Time and encouraged them by building relationships all semester, Mr. Jon Garcia, Ms. Valeria Vasquez, Ms. Tammy Claeson, Mr. Chase Battino, Ms. Toni Galvan, Ms. Biggs (Math interventionist), Ms. Abarca and Ms. Broussard (English interventionists), and the CICs (Amethyst Thorman, Jessica DeLong, Kelsey Sexton, Shay Riles) for ALL of their hard work and dedication!

Girls Soccer had a great tournament run!


JV finished first place with 20 goals scored and 0 goals conceded at the Waller Classic!


Varsity finished second place in Battle of Bernard tournament. Amy Patino and Nathalia Argueta being named first team all-tournament.

Cypress Park High School Cosmetology competed this week at Cy Ranch High School for the CFISD Cosmetology Competition. Below are the results for our campus.

Tai Stringfield-Best of Show in Hair Braiding (Cosmetology II Student)


Audrey Echols- Best of Show in Wigs and Weaving (Cosmetology II Student)


Raynell Baker- Best of Show in Live Makeup (Intro to Cosmetology Student)


Valeria Silva- Best of Show in Live Nail Art (Cosmetology I Student)


Nine-1st Place Ribbons, and Four 2nd Place Ribbons overall.


Congratulations Ms. Drake and Ms. Russell!

The CPHS Debate team competed at the Cy-Falls tournament this past weekend. Despite the cold weather our Tigers came in hot! Congrats to the finalists: Chrishem Bernard and Emily Hernandez placed 6th in Duo interp., Kelsea Stone placed 5th in Novice Extemp., Anthony Hernandez placed 4th in Novice oral Interp., and Camila Nolasco placed 3rd in Prose. Way to show excellence Tigers!!!


Honorary mention : At a December online tournament Chrishem Bernard qualified for state in Oratory!!!
