November 2023 News
Giving thanks in November
November is a time to give thanks. I am thankful for the talented team of teachers and dedicated staff at Mayo Elementary. I continue to be amazed by the support of the PTO and entire Mayo community. If you have not yet joined the PTO, please take a moment and join HERE.
I want to thank you for sending your students to school each day prepared and eager to learn. When I reflect upon things I am thankful for, along with my family and friends, my role as principal at Mayo is certainly high on the list!
With thanks,
Mrs. Lenora Fox, Principal

School Attendance Matters!
If students ride the bus, they will not be tardy for class. If you drive your student to school, please be mindful that the car loop door closes at 7:55am each morning. Students should be in their seats and ready to learn at 8am when our announcements begin. Please see the information below on how to build the habit of good attendance.
Very Important Mallards (VIMs)
November is National Native American Heritage Month
In November, we celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories, while we acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Native American Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges. Students will be learning about Native Americans in school, and we encourage you to participate at home as well.
America Recycles Day and Planet Aid Donations
Are you cleaning out closets for the season? Do you have clothes and shoes to donate? Please drop any donations in the yellow Planet Aid bin located at the car loop entrance to our school. Encourage family and friends to also drop off their donations to Mayo's Planet Aid bin!
America Recycles Day is November 15th. During the month of November, all Planet Aid partner schools will participate in the America Recycles Day clothing drive. Our school receives money for every pound of clothing collected each month, but during the month of November, we are eligible for additional awards for each pound of clothing and shoes we collect. Mayo is an International Green School, and we support sustainable practices, which include keeping reusable clothes and shoes from ending up in landfills. Let's collect more donations in November than any other month!
